And maybe the grass is greener on the other side. That last line "Forever and ever" has always made me kind of depressed, especially with that sad sounding solo. It's always come off as something ending never to be fixed. A rift that will never be sealed?

It is also the only good song on the album, I think Dave did that intentionally.

I believe that TDB is a pretty good album, it has a different sound too it, which if you think of the different era's they all have different sounds. I think that you need to look at the album in that context, it is Dave's not Roger's. Therefore do not judge it against something of Roger's.

However I am now thinking what "if" both Roger and Dave's sounds had been better mixed. It would be the perfect musical blend. I personally think that TDB is more uplifting, and Rogers music is a bit depressing. Therefore if Water's and Gilmour shared control the music would be both uplifting and depressing at the same time, that would be the ultimate in their mind bending music (manic deppressive music if you will). I maintain that Syd is still the best though. One that note as following the Floyd M.O. there are some definite references to Syd in TDB. I believe that if the Floyd lead by Gilmour had produced more material people may have a better idea of the sound he is creating, after two albums most listeners will still have hard time figuring out the direction the band was going in. And lastly Roger problably only trashed the album becuase he doesn't have the balls to admit that The Floyd could carry on without him. A.k.A I like rogers music, but I hate his ego.

I think that The Division Bell is way better than AMLOR! AMLOR had to much of an 80's techno sound to it and it was just gilmour and a bunch of session men, it s less pink floyd then the final cut was. TDB i think is has more of a pyschodelic sound to it and it just sounds like the nick, rick, and david, with help, instead of david and a group of ppl no one knows. Also TDB is great to listen to when you need to think about something, it is very soothing. Cluster one, by the way, is awesome and so is the rest of the album. Marooned and the other instrumentals are far better than the ones off of AMLOR. I'm not saying TDB is the greatest floyd album, and it isn't, and I'm not saying AMLOR sux, it just lacks something that TDB has, a group effort.
