Sorry Strat, I normally respect your opinion, but that is possibly the worst statement I've ever seen you make..

Someone like clapton doesn't have to "leap about like an idiot" because his music doesn't call for it. A high energy band does. Seriously, would you really want to see the who with Roger and co just standing there?

cheers

Re: Most Energetic Band

Yeah, it all depends on the band really. Some people are irritated by bands that just stand there, and as we've seen, vice versa. I think it just depends.

Re: Most Energetic Band

I like Clapton he's just not fun to watch live.
He's best enjoyed on CDs, and live DVDs are good for awhile.

Oh horse puckey. When have you ever respected my opinion?

Frankly, I've never been impressed with The Who's antics. In fact, I've always wanted to jump onstage and knock Pete on his ass when he smashes a perfectly good guitar.

Could be, but The Who never had ''mediocre musicianship/song quality''.

Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But that just doesn't mean it's not bollocks.

I recall someone trying to do such a thing to Pete once...Pete laid him out cold. Then kicked a cop in the pants...

I understand what you're saying, but I became an ardent NIN fan long before I saw them live. The quality of songwriting, production and performance comes through perfectly well without the aid of onstage bombast.

Besides, the only one in the band who does any leaping about anymore is Aaron North, and he's the new guy. The rest of them have gotten more sedate in their old age.

haha, it's like the people who complain that Cedric doesn't go as nuts on stage as he used to in the ATDI days.. sure he does, he's just learnt to dance, and he's hotter and even more full of energy..

cheers

You're distorting my point, Lars. I wasn't talking about the Who. Obviously, there are some bands who do quality work AND leap around. NIN is apparantly one of these too. I was thinking of most of the forgotten punk bands & so forth from the past.

Speaking of The Who, although I've never been any big fan, I would have loved to see Pete "give away" his guitar to some poor kid out of the audience rather than needlessly smash it. Of course that wouldn't be nearly so dramatic, but I would have liked him a lot better.

Re: Most Energetic Band

He was known to do that too, sometimes. The guitar smashing thing is a bit over embellished, I think.

Re: Most Energetic Band

You should only trash a stage if you are good at it, like Nirvana or early 90's Green Day.

Let's not forget the antics of Jimi Hendrix! Guitar smashing and burning, also playing behind head, with teeth, and other neat tricks.

Don't just take my word for it... try them some time!

The new album With Teeth is a good place to start.
