Hmm well I'm not sure about that, though once doing such a thing started a small fire on Pete's head (in the clip of "My Generation" at the beginning of the "The Kids Are Alright" DVD...his hair catches on fire and he puts it out off screen).

The video is cool, but not overly representative of the album. Check out "All The Love In The World"...probably my favorite track on there.

"Getting Smaller" and "Right Where It Belongs" are also very nice songs.

I still think "The Collector" is the grooviest track. Such an awesome drum part.

If your talkin' about The Smothers Bros. show when they play My generation and then all hell breaks loose at the end of the song it wasn't Pete's amp that made his hair catch on fire it was Keith Moon's Drum set that Blew up at the end and Pete happened to be standing in front of it. The story goes they told Keith to put a little charge in his kit before the show and it would be alright. Well Keith being the overindulgent one disreguarded this and put a heftey charge in and almost blew up the stage.

Re: Most Energetic Band

this is true.

as far as the whole energy thing...older acts are, well, getting older...and Eric Clapton was never much to jump about...blues artists, as he so wanted to be one, didn't do much jumping about.

Live, I couldn't say. Recorded, Bloc Party is pretty good, Franz Ferdinand also.

Ah yes, you're right. But it also caught the amp on fire...got myself a bit mixed up.

Re: Most Energetic Band

As far as getting wild and crazy on stage, I think G.G. Allin takes the cake.

Never saw him live, but his performances are legendary. Covering himself in feces, pissing on the crowd, getting into fights. Ah yes, he was indeed the craziest son of a bitch around.

Re: Most Energetic Band

Damn, that's a hard one to beat.

But I think Ian Anderson deserves a spot on here...what, with his wild flute twirling and one-legged playing...

I'll let Pete field that one himself.

The guitar smashing thing in my life was not what it appeared. I was never ever angry on the stage. I was never out of control of my emotions. I was very, very cool. I've never been nervous on stage. The bigger the audience, the less nervous I am. I'm very detached, quite cold on the stage. It was definitely an artistic act. When I was at college, I studied with a whole bunch of really fascinating people [NB] and, I came out with what I felt was an idea which was that I would be in this band and we would destroy ourselves. That was the thesis, in a word. And the guitar-smashing was just a part of it. And we failed. I think we failed really because we had a hit and really an artist's vanity got me. I desperately wanted The Who to be like what the Sex Pistols actually went on to do later, which was to be a band for five minutes. If you look at my interviews of the day, I say, 'The Who is a band chopping away at their own legs.' This is what we wanted.
Of course, when he says "we" he doesn't mean the rest of the band. They were quite content to be pop stars, I think.

Yeah, they sound like they'd be good fun live, and I have heard good things about the live Franz show. I'll be seeing them in Jan so I'll be able to report back then.. I'd love to see Bloc Party live, they're heaps of fun "you're just as boring as everyone else when you tut and you moan..." right.. sorry, got carried away
