Re: Waters' voice

I sometimes like Roger's singing, but on some songs I think that he really just can't sing well. What do you think of RW's singing style?

Re: Waters' voice

I think he did a good job until the Final Cut, where he just decided to let out that awful scream of his and screw everything up. And of course, he sounds like he's dying on Amused To Death and he sounds like he's dead on In the Flesh. What surprised me was that I thought Roger's vocals on Is There Anybody Out There were fantastic, but was disappointed by Dave's (and he doesn't often disappoint me as a vocalist). Who got to pick out the performances again?

Re: Waters' voice

He does not have as good as voice of David or richard for that matter. But he does sing with a great deal of emotion. On the wall and the final cut where the vocals are mostly his, he really starts to get on my nerves. He sings SOYCD very well, SOYCD from pulse is good untill the singing part and then well......it sucks

Re: Waters' voice

Yeah pretty average on the whole. However, when he screams/sings "stay with me" repeatedly on Pros and Cons...it is one of the most moving vocal bits I have ever heard.

Re: Waters' voice

I think roger has a very decent singing voice. Near the end with the Floyd it was rather emotive and personal, and the persona of his concept ideas were people disillusioned from the world, hence the crabbyness and excessive screaming. I agree its not the best voice, but it is unique..much like Pearl Jam's ed vedder...you always know when roger is singing

Re: Waters' voice

I agree - the uniqueness is very beautiful.

He's speaking from his heart - and you can damn well tell.
