the review in yesterdays sunday mail gave
Dave 3 out of 5 stars and was quite a bit
kinder than max balls. shame he got the title
of Ricks song completely wrong though. (calling it brainfood instead of breakthrough!)

I doubt anyone really needed to. I wouldn't be suprised if it get's released in one form or another. CD/DVD.

It would make some sense if an album WAS released of his gig.

Why else assemble such a gathering of celebrities and assorted respectable talents? Then again, maybe not.

Driven: Just between you and me, I thought the live version of "Breakthrough" was much much better than the original with the backing singers singing the chorus beautifully.

The REAL coup would have been if David had got Sinead herself to do the melodies.

BoaB...I'm interested in how Dave handled the little giutar solo in the middle of Breakthrough. Did he play it the same (I wouldn't be sure if he could do some of the little fiddley bits) or some of his own licks.

Either way...I get more jealous every time you say something in this thread

Not being all that familiar with BROKEN CHINA, I couldn't honestly say whether David's guitar playing was better, worse or just similar.

I think, of course, since it WAS David doing the playing, his version must have been BRILLIANT! If only he'd done the singing as well, I would have been ecstatic.

Should I mention here that I spotted Terry Gilliam in the terraces as well?

Shine on!

No...I think you should say nothing more about the concert.

Driven: I'll do my best.

eug'axe: Mr. Gilliam WAS with a lady friend, but she was too attractive to have been Terry Jones done up in drag, the Python penchant for cross-dressing notwithstanding. (SHUDDER)

The all-natural ice cream during the interval was excellent as well.

How about Eric Idle? He's better looking in drag than Terry Jones.

Hold on....

aaaaahhh.

Perhaps this was so 30 years ago, but today? No, no, no.

The lady in question was way too attractive to have been any of the remaining Pythons.

If David were to release a copy of the show, whose version of CN would get the go-ahead, Wyatt, Geldof or Bush?

HEY, BoaB!!! Hold it right there! I'll have you know I think Mr. Wright has a very nice voice! I know we're both GeeDubs and all...but I can't help thinking it's more appropriate for Mr. Wright himself to be singing about an experience that was so close to his heart.

As we are talking about a DVD, why should we have to choose? Just put all three versions on there, and use the "angle" feature to allow the viewer to choose. To see a great example of this, check out the King Crimson DVD "Deja Vrooom". One song has seven different angles, allowing the viewer to watch the standard version, or a single musician throughout the song.

I'm sure DG said they were planning at least a DVD (possibly an album, too?) from the shows at some point but that it was down to time and effort to get the mastering, production, etc. done. so he wasn't sure when (if?) it would happen.

That was in the webcast, I think.
