The Restless Sea

I wrote this poem in Catalan (the language spoken in the region of Catalonia in Spain) trying to figure out some lyrics for a song I was writing for my group six months ago. But now the group no longer exists and I didn't know what to do with the poem so I've decided to make a free translation into English and post it here. The original poem doesn´t have any rhymes at all so the lack of rhymes here is not due to the translation.

The Restless Sea

You stay there quietly in the distance,
A dreamy figure amidst the haze.
Throwing out the hell you carry inside
Is your favourite pastime,
And the waves in your mind swallow any kind of hope.
But the fire in your head is no more than warm ashes
When it reaches someone else.
How did you come to think
That these words could ever be yours?
Only the haze belongs to you
And the restless sea where you live.

I can't see your eyes
drowned by the distance.
I don't know if you're looking at me
Or if you're staring at the ground.
But now that I found out your game
I'm no longer afraid of your stare.
I haven't got any dreams left to lend you,
And even though I could pay you back,
My vengeance would just be wind under your wings.
I will only walk away from you
And let my indifference become
One more wave in the restless sea where you live.

Do you remember when you could still weave webs of words around me?
When my innocence fed the emptiness where you hide?
Now your words are bars in the prison around you.
And even though I have wasted part of my breath in you
I still have enough to turn into birds the old cage
You built for me with nightmares and threats
And fly away from here
As your ship sinks down,
Sails unfurled burning,
Sparks glowing bright in the haze,
And the wind caressing my cheeks
As I flay away from here
Far away from your tempest
And your restless sea.
