| Re: It Would Be so Nice (It would be so damn nice) Rick wrote the song and sings lead vocals. Norman Smith produced it for the band in March 1968, shortly after Syd left. Basically, it was Pink Floyd's attempt to have a hit single without him. They released it (with Roger's "Julia Dream" on the B-side) after modifying the lyrics from "Evening Standard" to "Daily Standard" because the BBC had some kind of objection to mentioning a real newspaper in their music programmes. Unfortunately, it didn't receive much airtime anyway and the record completely tanked in the pop charts. This goes some way towards explaining why Pink Floyd stopped catering to the singles market. | Re: It Would Be so Nice (It would be so damn nice) Y'know, there's not a single frame of the Japanese disaster that doesn't leave me feeling unbelievably cowed, over and over and over. What a terrible happenstance. Terrible. |

| Re: It Would Be so Nice (It would be so damn nice) It Would Be So Nice was released on the vinyl collection 'The Best of Pink Floyd' (later re-released as 'Masters of Rock vol.1') - Columbia 5C 054-04299; Harvest 1C 054-04299, which to my knowledge has not seen the light of day on CD. Also on the US radio compilation 'A CD Full of Secrets' which is not too difficult to find. It was originally released (in the UK) as the 'A' side of Columbia BD 8410, with the splendid Julia Dream on the flip. |
