"it's like saying give a man a les paul guitar and he becomes eric clapton..."

Hmmm... I wonder how much you know about Clapton, and the fact that it was/is the Fender Stratocaster that has always been his principal axe...hmmmm.

Re: Dark Side crappy?

Actually, Clapton didn't switch to Fenders until 1970 or so. On all his early work (arguably his best) with the Yardbirds, Cream and Blind Faith he used Gibsons. Always.

If I'm not mistaken, that was a direct quote from Roger.

Re: Dark Side crappy?

Yes, Roger did indeed say that, and at the time he was correct (as Clapton was still using Gibson).

It's a quote from Roger, during the DSOTM footage on the Pompeii video. It's during the explaination that Roger and Dave give regarding the synth equipment.

Re: Dark Side crappy?

Well, well....sorry, but you're all wrong. Although Claptom (like any other guitarist) never limited himself to just one guitar brand, he was, is and a probably will remain a Fender enthusiast. The following quote is taken from Clapton's official website at
http://www.claptononline.com:

"Eric Clapton has owned many guitars throughout his life. What follows is list of almost all the guitars Clapton has ever owned and played. Clapton's name has become synonomous with Fender guitars, especially the Strat, but he has owned many other Fender models throughout his career other than just Strats."

"For example, he owns a Fender Bass VI and 2 Fender Electric XII's. These three guitars each made appearances in the "Tears in Heaven" video. Also among Clapton's Fender collection is a Jazzmaster. This guitar was played by Eric during his days with the Yardbirds. And finally, as mentioned before,"

"Clapton has become particularly well known for his love of the Stratocaster. Clapton's most cherished Strat is the one that is referred to as 'Blackie.' This black Strat, which has now been put into retirement by Clapton, was assembled from the parts of three different 1950's Strats. Eric also owns 9 other Strats, 6 of which are his own signature models."

"Besides all of his Strats Eric also has owned a few Telecasters. One of these Telecasters is a blonde 1952 model. In addition to this '52 Telecaster, Eric also played two other models during his stints with the Yardbirds and Blind Faith. And last but not least is the sunburst Telecaster which Eric played in the "Tears in Heaven" video."

I rest my case.

No one is arguing that, we are just saying that is what Roger Waters said. Get it through your "I'm better than you" head.

Re: Dark Side crappy?

YOU know how to end it??? your the one who copy and pasted half the eric clapton site.

eric clapton used a Les Paul as his primary guitar for a little bit, then he swtched to hard core Strat.

Re: Dark Side crappy?

Yes, all throughout his days in Cream and most of his time in the Yeardbirds he didnt use a single Strat. Only a Gibson, that Psychodelic SG that he had, quite rad it was. He didnt really make Fender his sole guitar manufacturer till the mid 70's.

Now now, don't break the Forum rules by using profanity. There's no need for that kind of language. We are all adults who can agree to disagree without hurling insults and invectives. Roger Waters AND Eric Clapton would not want us all fighting about who played what instrument when. Eric probably doesn't even care that some people (incorrectly)associate him with Gibson guitars. It's not central to the bigger issue, which is....uh.....wait a minute....lemme seee....uhhhh.....hmmmmm...

Oh yeah! What's YOUR favorite Pink Floyd song??

-Pink Anderson (believes it's the strings that really matter, not the guitar)
