Gone But Not Forgotten

I've notice in the past, there have been several threads dedicated specifically to one deceased person. I figured we could basically consolidate everything, and now anyone who goes to play at that great gig in the sky can have their existence honored here.

On August 26, Dennis D'Amour, known as Piggy to most, died due to advanced colon cancer at the age of 45. Piggy played guitar for the Canadian metal band Voivod, who have been playing music since the early 1980's. Voivod were hard at work on another album, and after Piggy's death, they have since continued on with the project.

You will be missed.

Re: Gone But Not Forgotten

Don Knotts passed away today at age 81.

He was best known for his portrayal of character "Barney Fife" on The Andy Griffith Show; the nervous, bumbling deputy who fubar'd every event. (Actually, an archetype of all small-town police forces)

RIP, Barn.

Actually I remember Don as Mr. Furley.

Yeah, RIP Mr. Knotts.

Re: Gone But Not Forgotten

Unfortunately many will remember him as Mr. Furly. Which is a shame, cause I believe he is a comedy genius. Not only is he the highlight of Andy Griffith reruns, but he made several small appearances in films before his break through role.

Rest In Peace.

Re: Gone But Not Forgotten

Milton Friedman (no relation to Kinky) passed away today.

He was one of my personal heros, a brilliant Nobel-prize-winning economist.
I read his book Free To Choose a long time ago, which shaped my whole view of economics.

I'd recommend his books to anyone who has a desire to learn the way real-world economics works. Especially you students who think Karl Marx knew what he was talking about.

RIP, Mr. Friedman, you were a great force for good.

I think Mick Jagger stole old Barney's look. Check out the early Stones with Mick's Barney Fife facial mannerisms.
