Re: What would you put on your 'Echoes Disc 3'???

Echoes 2 should just never see the light of day, plain and simple. I like Echoes and I think it's perfect for newbies but I also think ONE Echoes is more than enough for that purpose.

I think the only compilation the fans need now is something like a Pink Floyd Anthology with rarities, unreleased tracks and live recordings. But this is an old story.

BTW I suddenly realized that I've misunderstood the original point of the thread... OK nevermind.

I don't even own TFC. I'll probably eventually buy it with umma and amlor to complete the collection. But for now, i'm staying the hell away from it.

Yeah, mad yannis, you kinda missed the point of the thread. Too much to drink, perhaps?

Actually I hold it above The Wall, for musical content, and lyrically, it gets a bit too political at times, but some of the stuff is great. Give it a chance you may, or may not like it.

As for yannis' comment about Echoes, I agree with the Analogy idea, but am very afraid of some of the stuff that might be locked away.

NNJ--are we the only two people on this forum who like TFC? I also can't help but find a certain irony in that I, of all people, would be one of those two!

Actually, I think there is no irony involved. Good music is good music.

Incidentally, I saw a Rick Wright lp go on ebay for a hefty sum, I bid on it, but was quickly outbid.

I like TFC, absolutely. I know all the lyrics by heart and there was a period some months ago it was my favourite. Dunno what's wrong with it for many guys

Well, I don't do eBay, but that's very interesting to hear about.

And nice to know NNJ and I aren't the only two who like TFC.

Re: What would you put on your 'Echoes Disc 3'???

Well... It's not ALL bad. The lyrics are fantastic at points. Unpolished at other points. Somebody started a rumour a while ago that Roger recycled lots of old Pink Floyd sound effects into TFC, but that's simply not true. A lot of work went into the sound effects on this album and I respect that, being something of an "SFX boffin" myself. It's just that a few of them sound similar to the older sound effects. But they are completely new.

But don't listen to me. I liked The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking, so my opinion doesn't count.

TFC is boring. Good songs, but boring. I have said it many times.

Yes, CatCruise...as an RW solo album, it's superb. I don't see it as Floyd, though.
