Indie Labels

These days there are some really fantastic Indie lables around. Tis my life dream to own one myself (working title so far... Ginger Records)

Indie Lables often cater to one genre, or at least a general feel of bands.. and they are really fantastic for advancing and expanding ones knowledge of awesome underground music.

My favourite is Gold Standard Laboratories ( www.goldstandardlabs.com ), not only do they have some awesome bands like The Locust, The Rhythm of Black Lines, Gogogo Airheart, 400 Blows, Cut City, Defacto, Jaga Jazzist and of course the all mighty Mars Volta (the label is part owned by Omar) signed to them but they also specialise in releasing awesome coloured vinyls and special editions and they do them at a pretty good price, their customer service is wonderful and this year they're celebrating their 12th anniversary by releasing a special series of 12 7" custom coloured vinyl singles by various bands and artists on the label. I just ordred mine and the shipping for this special "doughnut series" is free!

Ok, enough of my babble about GSL.. do you have a favourite indie label, and if so, what is it and why?

cheers

Probably Merge Records. It has the Arcade Fire, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Spoon, among others.

My favorites are probably InsideOut (sometimes) and Snapper. Oh, and can't forget Headphone Dust.
