| Re: leonardo da vinci last supper The hand has to belong to the guy in blue. Yes, it is at an awkward angle, and if this were a photograph, I'd be worried. However, since it's just a picture, I think we can chalk it up to DiVinci screwing up his perspective. Congrats, littlerocker, at 11 you're already an art critic. |

| Re: leonardo da vinci last supper Yeah, his hand is upside-down and backwards, but it's not an impossible position. Check out this clearer photo of the restored version. Read the article Vera linked to... the "real" one has been variously desecrated by various people over the centuries, so who's to say what it actually looked like in the first place? Given that Leonardo took such GREAT pains to perfect the composition and perspective of all his works, I'd be more inclined to believe that the above link is closer to what he intended than the "original" state the work was in that DT linked to (before the recent restoration ended in 1999). However, there are those who would disagree. Last edited by Botley; 11-09-2005 at 05:09 PM. |

| Re: leonardo da vinci last supper I think what first appears to be Peter's right elbow is, in fact, not, but the rear of his garment. For his hand to be in that position, his right elbow would have to be turned forward, not rearward. |

| Re: leonardo da vinci last supper Actually, to me it looks like a normal hand position. Just put your hand near your hip and turn it upwards, just as if you had it at your hip. It doesn't look odd to me at all. |

| Re: leonardo da vinci last supper That's what I'm saying too. The back of his wrist is against his hip. |

| Re: leonardo da vinci last supper Quote:
The only way of knowing whose hand is it, or why is it in such an angle would be asking Leonardo himself, but, since there is a little life and death issues here, my advice is to leave it alone and do something creative with the time you'll save Cheers |
