Yes some of Collins' drumming on early Genesis records is more than excellent. He's especially great on Selling England by the Pound, Genesis' greatest album ever and one of the if not the best progressive album ever.

Yes. That would be very interesting, but as you just have said their writing styles have gone a long way one from the other... An interesting but difficult task, really.

The other thing they could do is play the older material with a new reading. They did it quite nicely when they re-recorded "The Carpet Crawlers" for the "Archive" thing. And for an exact rendition of the old numbers we've already got "The Musical Box" (or the Genesis CDs for that matter...)

I heard Phil Collins was warned not to continue on stage because he was going deaf.

Any truth to this?

People do wonderful things with In-Ear Monitors nowadays: they can be molded to fit your particular ear shape, so that being on stage is almost as quiet as music played at a normal level in your own home.

Pete Townsend is able to play electric live again after years of just playing acoustic because of ear problems. I believe he uses the ear protection that your talking about.Anyway back to the subject the thought of a Gabriel fronted Genesis is very interesting. But

Will Phil take a back seat and just play drums?
Will Peter bring back all the theatrical part of early Genesis?
Will there be new material? Cd?
Or will it be a greatest hits show?(Fine with me if its Gabriel era and Trick of the Tale & Wind & Wuthering)
