Re: Gilmour On "Tour"

My tickets haven't arrived yet, but I don't think Royal Albert Hall send them out until closer to the time.

Re: Gilmour On "Tour"

I wonder if Rick Wright is going to appear as a guest again. David Gilmour's musicblog is in fact leaving the door open for the possibility of Rick to join the band. That would make sense, considering that Richard plays and sings on two tracks of the album. To see the two of them perform live together would be awesome!

I'd say the chances of Rick Wright appearing are very high.

Re: Gilmour On "Tour"

I'm sure he will, but, unfortunately for me, it would only be for one or more of the shows in England.

Re: Gilmour On "Tour"

http://www.davidgilmour.com announced today that BDG has set his touring band. They are:

Phil Manzanera - Roxy Music guitarist and co-producer of ‘On An Island’
Richard Wright - Pink Floyd’s keyboard player
Guy Pratt - bass player with Pink Floyd and Roxy Music
Jon Carin - keyboards and longtime player with Pink Floyd
Steve DiStanislao - drums, recently played with Crosby & Nash

Looks like a great line-up. Seeing Rick with David is a 2-for-1 bonus!

Indeed! I am really looking forward to the show. Carin, Pratt, Wright, and Gilmour - a good chunk of the band that I saw in 1988 and 1994. Whether it's songs from 'On An Island' or PF classics, it's gonna sound great. April can't get here soon enough for me.

Re: Gilmour On "Tour"

Yeah I'm looking forward to seeing Gilmour and Wright for the first time ever!

30 May is a long way off though. Considering the show I'm going to is the second last, they should be pretty well rehearsed by the time I see them!

Re: Gilmour On "Tour"

I'm just looking forward to the smaller venue. My previous PF concerts have been stadium shows, with me way across the field. Radio City Music Hall will be a great venue. Theatre acoustics, only a few thousand fans (vs the 80,000 of Foxboro stadium), etc. It's gonna be a night for the memory books.

Re: Gilmour On "Tour"

I have mixed feelings about Wright's presence. It's going indeed to be a great show because Gilmour + Wright are a terrific, powerful team. On the other hand I'm surprised to see Richard as Gilmour's session man, as an employee... I hope I'm wrong and he's going to get the spotlight he deserves.

Re: Gilmour On "Tour"

Rick's presence always brings out the best in Gilmour, IMHO. Rick provides a level of layering and chord progression underneath Gilmour's guitar. And since Rick appears on the album, I think it's only fitting he is in the shows. Like the previous Gilmour concerts, maybe David will play one of Rick's songs and showcase him on lead vocals (I'm thinking of 'Breakthrough')

Re: Gilmour On "Tour"

Yeah, Breaktrough after the 2002 shows has become almost a classic. I would like also to hear something other from Broken China or Wet Dream too. And now we can seriously hope in ECHOES!!!

By the way, now that we know the band members, why don't we start thinking about our setlist for the upcoming shows?

Re: Gilmour On "Tour"

Great news! Now, if the chemistry is good enough, they could write some more songs together during the tour or once it is finished, call in Nick and... we would have one more Pink Floyd album after all these years!!! Though this only may be wishful thinking but, hey! daydreaming is free!
