Question about the final cut for 'older' fans PS. Sorry, I did not mean to call you 'older' but I needed a response from a person out of diapers in the early/mid 80's!

Re: Question about the final cut for 'older' fans Different time period, but where I live there is a weekly hour long show dedicated to the Floyd, and they play tracks from the final cut.

Re: Question about the final cut for 'older' fans I wasn't a big Floyd fan until the late 80's. Even so, I did listen to the radio a lot and never heard any tracks from The Final Cut.

Re: Question about the final cut for 'older' fans Not Now John was played a bunch here in Detroit. I saw the single in the local record store at the time, but passed on buying it because it was the "obscured" version (the radio version-no swearing). I remember thinking that they can't release any more singles because there weren't any other "rock" songs on the album. I was so much younger then...

Re: Question about the final cut for 'older' fans If you believe the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, which is supposed to be compiled based on the total weekly number of radio plays nationwide, a few tracks from the album did pretty well indeed. In 1983, "Not Now John" reached #7, "Your Possible Pasts" hit #8 and "The Hero's Return" even scraped in at #31. Last edited by Botley; 12-14-2005 at 09:59 PM.

Good, I appreciate these facts. It makes me feel good that this album was not totally ignored by radio. Wouldn't you agree that it is quite brilliant? |
