Tone question..

I am wondering the most simple way to get an approximation of Dave's tone from the Live in Pompeii solo on Echoes. I don't want a dunlop fuzz face because I've heard they don't sound like the Dallas Arbiter ones. Are there any boss or other pedals that get a decent approximation of this tone? Also his delay/reverb settings on the solo.. how does he get it to sound like the mic was on the other end of a field from the amp?

For the Live at Pompeii recording? Probably by placing the mic on the other side of the stadium

Common practice.
