Question Cover Better than Original

Hi,

I am making a Cd of only covers. The thing is that the covers have to be better than the original.

So in your opinion what cover is way better than the original?

So far I only have:

With a little help from my friends Beatles Cover By Joe Cocker

Any sugestions??

I totally agree with you.

I'd go for "Smells Like Teen Spirit" covered by Tori Amos though perhaps I'm a bit biased since I absolutely love Tori Amos' work.

Re: Cover Better than Original

Also, Robert Plant did a wonderful job with "Hey Joe" in his album "Dreamland". He gave the song a trippy-psychotic feel which goes very well with the topic it treats.

BTW, Type O Negative also covered the song changing the lyrics and calling it "Hey Pete". Take a look at the lyrics... totally over the top.

And... "Black Sabbath" covered by Type O Negative. A darker and more satanic version.

Re: Cover Better than Original

Well, here's an obvious one: Jimi Hendrix's cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower"

Re: Cover Better than Original

Also... if you like acoustic guitars try any cover by the "California Guitar Trio", you've got a wide variety to choose from:

-Symphony No. 9
-Bohemian Rhapsody
-Caravan
-Heart of the Sunrise
-Symphony No 5

The way in which just three acoustic guitars can play so accurate arrangements of whole orchestral pieces is totally amazing.

Anyway, those aren't probably better covers than the originals (those originals are really hard to beat), just different and really interesting for the acoustic guitars lover.
