Your "Top 10 Best of '05" Thread

Well, with less than a week of '05 left, I think it's safe to say that there will be no more releases, and can let us formulate our "Best Of" lists. IMO, this has been a phenominal year in music, and it wouldn't surprise me if next year I discovered some albums from this one.

My top 10 (loosely in order, and also subject to change):

-Porcupine Tree's "Deadwing"
-dredg's "Catch Without Arms"
-Opeth's "Ghost Reveries"
-Nine Inch Nails' "With Teeth"
-Strapping Young Lad's "Alien"
-Sigur Ros' "Takk..."
-The Pineapple Thief's "10 Stories Down"
-Pelican's "The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw"
-The Wallflowers' "Rebel, Sweetheart"
-The Mars Volta's "Frances The Mute"

And honorable mention goes to:
-Sir Milard Mulch's "How To Sell The Whole F#@!Ing Universe To Everybody... Once And For All!"

Should be noted that just yesterday I got Devlab's (Devin Townsend's) "Devlab" and Roger Waters' "Ca Ira", so the jury is still out on those ones.

So go ahead, post up your lists.

Who else in the world but NIN can completely drop off the map for five years and then return with back-to-back #1 modern rock hits?

Ca Ira is also terrific, but I'm not so sure about the other top eight... that Monk & Coltrane "Live at Carnegie Hall" album is probably in there, even though it was recorded in 1957. I'm also (belatedly) getting more into the new records by M.I.A. and Queens of the Stone Age. It's been quite an eclectic twelve months.

These 2 are my favourites from 2005

Most of the others I bought aren't 2005 releases

There's been so much good stuff released this year that I'm hard pressed to narrow it down, however this has to be my favourite:

Re: Your "Top 10 Best of '05" Thread

The only ones I've got released this year are:

Shangra La -- Mark Knopfler
HTDAAB -- U2
Live In Tokyo -- G3
Biggerbang -- Rolling Stones
Suspended Animation -- John Petrucci

Last, and least -- Siberia -- Echo & The Bunnymen

Just kidding, Cheesemeister. Calm down and push that vein back in your forehead.
Siberia is excellent, folks!
