Re: Discussing Anew On Pink Floyd and related..

It's not a lens, per-se.

It's a 5-facet multivision filter (screws onto the lens of any SLR-type camera).

They aren't very expensive.

'Hoya' make them. There's a 3-facet one on ebay at the moment (not sure what make).

Do a google search for Hoya filters and you'll find them. You'll need the diametre of your lens to get the right one (but being a budding photographer...I'm sure you knew that!)

Yes you can make your own if you are the DIY kind.

you know, I could always try to make one until I get the real thing. I have a friend who made a weird kaleidoscope filter with an old one he had and it made some freaky effects!

No probs, I do quite a bit of photography so it's a familiar subject.

Good luck with your project.

I don't have any pictures he took with the filter on my computer, it was with a film camera so I'd have to find the guy, ask for the prints, scan them...might take a while but I'll see what I can do.
the project is only for next semester but I'm starting to think about now. You have to try to recreate 4 pictures you like that were taken by the photographers of you choice. I might have a go at trying to recreate 4 Floyd album covers (Piper, Animals, WYWH and AHM). I was wondering how I'd manage to do the Piper effect but now that I know the existence of the multivision filter...I know I'm insane to even think about doing this, but it'll be great fun.

Well, the AHM one should be easy enough.

Those are all by different photographers, though. "Animals" was a whole team of people, in fact...

Re: Discussing Anew On Pink Floyd and related..

exactly. that why I said "by the photographers of your choice". Part B of the project is to talk a bit about the artists you chose. I was reading the photography credits in the animals booklet and I tought "oh dear, I'll have to find stuff on all these people"

Another Storm picture you could re-create would be the naked ladies with album covers painted on their backs. You shouldn't have too much trouble talking your friends into posing, and I'm certain all the guys here would be interested in seeing your results.

Re: Discussing Anew On Pink Floyd and related..

that would be the greatest thing ever. hard part is to find someone talented enough to paint the album covers on the back of the girls...
I should start doing the project right now, I have so much ideas, it'll take me ages to do all of them!
