Talking Big changes! Forum software upgrade and new moderators

Dear floydians,

We have quite a few big changes at APFFN that we'd like to share with you.

First of all, our users have elected their new moderators. We held the poll to choose three mods, in addition to the existing ones (Sydney, Fulghum and fixxlevy, which are doing an amazing job, BTW), however, the third place was split in between Deranged and fairjess, with 7 votes each. So, instead of just arbitrarily choosing between one of them or holding a second poll, we've decided we could use an extra hand, and increased the number of new mods to four.

The final list of winners is, then:
  • Deathtöngue - 19 votes
  • Dr Cheese - 15 votes
  • Deranged - 7 votes
  • fairjess - 7 votes
  • one_of_my_turns - 6 votes
  • Axe victim - 5 votes
  • CerpinTaxt - 4 votes
  • darksideofoz - 2 votes
  • Fletch - 1 vote
  • Madcap Diamond - 1 vote

We would like to thank everyone who participated (nominating, being nominated, and voting), and for the runner ups, we may call upon you at any time, as it has happened in the past, either because of the resignation of any current mods, as well as because the forums keep on growing!

Our congrats to Deathtöngue, Dr Cheese, Deranged and fairjess for their election, I'm sure (and I certainly speak not only for myself, but for all users and current mods) that you'll do a great job.

Finally, we had been postponing the upgrade of our forum software for nearly a year now, because we had customized the old board quite much, and it seemed very hard to replicate all of those changes into the new board software version. We had been running exaustive tests during the past several weeks to make sure that the upgrade would go smoothly, before going live. Everything seemed to be working fine, so we decided to go through with it. After several hours upgrading and testing, apparently, all is good.

I hope you enjoy the new functionalities of vBulletin version 3. vBulletin is the leading forum software in the industry, the best of them all in the opinion of the majority of webmasters. This version has several new features that I'm sure you'll appreciate. For more information, please consult the FAQ.

Please notice that some things may not work as expected. We would really appreciate your cooperation in letting us know of any glitches and problems you may find when perusing the new system. We're in the process of upgrading the site styles into the new software, so right now only The Wall is available, but we should gradually make the others (Dark Side of the Moon, Meddle, Dark Blue and Dark Green) available to you. We'll keep you posted.

As far the "server busy" messages, we may still encounter this problem, but now, with the new forum software, we hope to be able to fully optimize the server to fix those.

Anyway, these are great times for us. I hope you enjoy the great news. After all, APFFN only exists the way it is because of you. Thank you.

Re: Big changes! Forum software upgrade and new moderators

What are those colored circles next to peoples user names? Why do some people have different colors?

I miss the quick reply box, but GREATLY appreciate that you can now go directly to the last post from the "latest forum topics" list.

Thanks Paulo.

Re: Big changes! Forum software upgrade and new moderators

I never used the quick reply, so I don't care.

things look good now.

i imagine the green indicates who's online at the moment and who isn't.

It means we who have green ones are superior beings.

I think that if you are online then the circle lights up green.
If the person is off then its colorless.
