Did Pink Floyd rip off Porcupine Tree?

On the Porcupine Tree album "Voyage 34" recorded in 1993, there are various bits which forecast "The Division Bell", particularly "Phase II" where certain passages sound remarkably like "Keep Talking". There are even the sampled talk-over bits (ala Stephen Hawking on the Pink Floyd record). Now, whenever I listen to "Keep Talking", it sounds just like a poor and cheap imitation! Now, its obvious that the guitar lines in Phase I are a blatent complete rip off of "Another Brick in the Wall Part 2" and "Run Like Hell", so maybe the Floyd thought they had better take something back in return?

Well,they used the technique of playing whatever came to muse or whatever clicked and then would polish certain songs which would then be developed over a period of time.So it comes as no surprise that you found their previous outings to sound a bit too familiar.In fact they had to stop performing live their new catalogues as it would become a superior bootleg.I have not heard of this "Porcupine Tree" Is that a group or what ?

I don't know Porcupine Tree from The Butthole Surfers, so I can't make any objective comparisons, but if what you suspect is true, PTree would have been filing lawsuits like crazy against the "deep pockets" of Pink Floyd since 1994.

V34 was 92, and Division Bell was 94...

The intro to Keep Talking does sound a lot like a lot of the ambient sounds and instrumentals in V34 especially phases II and III... and yes, S. Wilson has basically admitted to ripping off ABitW for Phase I. But I don't really think Floyd intended to even remotely appear to rip off PTree.

If David Gilmour had even heard them by that point, which is quite possible, maybe he decided he liked the sound and figured he'd pay homage to them as PTree did ABitW. But I honestly doubt that Floyd ripped off Porcupine Tree, or had anything of the sort in mind.

AND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DO NOT KNOW WHO PORCUPINE TREE IS, ....well.... just find ANYTHING by them and GET IT.

But its not the guitar which is 'ripped off', its the synth atmosphere and ambience which means it might have been Rick Wright. There are also shades of the synth drum beat (which I know wasn't synth on the Division Bell but still sounds like it) so, perhaps Nick Mason is in on this case of gross plagerism as well! Stone the crows!
