i have joined this site to find the answer to something thats playing on my mind,always been a fan and was lucky enought to see roger waters at glastonbury 02-but can you lot pleae tell me,what is the row/rift between waters and the rest of the band please.carl

Hi Carl, welcome aboard!

As you've 'always' been a fan, it's surprising you don't know the story
of the ugly breakup in 1983 or so. Essentially, Waters decided that PF had come to the end of the road and wanted to split up and retire the name. Dave, Nick and Rick wanted to continue as PF, so a legal struggle ensued over useage of the name "Pink Floyd".
Dave & Co. won out, and their edition of PF put out several more albums, while Roger put out his solo albums. Bad blood has existed since. Last July 2 at the Live8 thing, they layed differences aside and once more took to the stage as a group. An historic & thrilling moment for Floydians, for sure.

There's also the bit about Roger getting carried away with being the chief lyricist and turning into a total and utter wanker prior to the release of The Wall LP...
