Gary Numan

I've admired Gary's music for years, and it came as quite a shock to me that he will be putting out a new album next month after a 5-year lapse. Check it out on his website, and listen to a radio interview I found here.

It's amazing that he's endured the cruel, fickle nature of the music business for so long after the initial superstardom of his early days. The songs he's writing now have an extra "industrial" edge to them that I absolutely adore, but then he's always flirted with an undercurrent of darkness right from his earliest songs with punk outfit Tubeway Army.

To be perfectly honest, I've never heard any of his songs.

I recommend watching Alan Partridge playing air-bass to music for chameleons in the second 'I'm...' series

Re: Gary Numan

That track was Pino Pallidino's debut as a session musician, incidentally.

Re: Gary Numan

Jagged comes out in UK shops on Monday, folks. I just downloaded it and it's absolutely brilliant. Dark and atmospheric, but with catchy songwriting and that classic Numan voice from days of yore.

Re: Gary Numan

It's out in North America now, everybody... with a (superfluous) bonus remix. You MUST hear this album.

Do you happen to know which episode that was?

Re: Gary Numan

Uh, I've heard some of his 80's songs and I wasn't impressed at all. Sorry.
