On The Run EPK....

The Roger Waters/David Gilmour writing partnership was a strong one because of what the two titans of Pink Floyd each brought to the table. David Gilmour has a stronger ear for melody, harmony and rhythm whereas Roger Waters is a lyricist who can bring depth to the Pink Floyd's songs. David Gilmour, happy with his new demo, has shared it with the Pink Floyd as he knows he needs to contribute some songs to The Wall - which Roger Waters has immersed himself in. The Floyd's demo now has lyrics but they are a little sloppy at this stage (view lyrics in new window). Also, Roger is singing in a bit of a silly voice if you ask me.

Under the skilful production of Bob Ezrin, the final product of The Pink Floyd's work is a classic. Bringing the melodies of David Gilmour, the textures of Rick Wright, the rhythms and feel from Nick Mason and the lyrics of Roger Waters together as one cohesive unit produces one of my favourite Pink Floyd songs (not as good as Echoes IMO).
