Yeah, there seems to be a lot of assumptions on Rick's part. As if he's made no progress in the 25 odd years since he was booted from the band. People talk as if he's stuck in the past.

Rick is the one member of the band thats probably said the least about Pink Floyd continuing. Dave is very negative about it, Roger says he could see ways it could happen and Nick seems to be up for whatever happens yet we have no idea of Rick's intentions.

Until he says something in an interview or something people shouldn't assume that he's in some way scared of Roger. Maybe he'd like PF to start up more than anyone.

(If in fact there is proof somewhere of Rick's current intentions disregard this post and let me see it please )

Yeah, I agree with BoaB here... you never know. Roger in the last years expressed huge ammiration for Rick's work, in recent interviews and also in the Dark Side DVD. It's also apparent that Rick is very close to David these days, anyway, we'll see.

Re: Roger, Nick and Rick

BUT, lets not forget these guys are in the 60s (I mean age) and that does something to you. In the past 5 years I think ALL the band members have matured, and wised up. I think its astounding how much the interviews change when you compare Waters and Gilmour of 2006, and Waters and Gilmour of 1987 or 1992. Plus, I think Mason's book would have been a little more rough around the edges and venomous had he wrote and published it in 1993, instead of recently. Its amazing what getting your back rubbed by an old friend on a beach can lead to!
If the Floyd were to re-unite, and I do think it will happen again, it will simply be that. A nice little re-union, with a bunch of television cameras to capture the moment. One concert. Maybe a gutted show, even an acoustic.
I know its silly notion, but I would just looooooooove to see an acoustic concert at night at Pompei again. Don't invite anybody but the tech crew and the cameras. Then go home, and put out the DVD.
A grandeur show and tour, probably scares every member of the band. End the band as it began, an intriguing band of sound and mystique.
As a fan, I wouldn't feel robbed at all.

Re: Roger, Nick and Rick

It would seem the boys haven't matured that much at all.

Roger has just expressed his annoyance at David's comment "we could have done the same set (at live 8) without Roger and it wouldn't sound any different". Roger said that'so why he didn't invite Gilmour to join him doing DSoTM.

Being a pal of David's, Rick's loyalties probably lie on that side of the fence (hence his lack of response to Roger's invitation).

It's pretty much business as usual in Floyd land. They'll never agree, and I'm guessing that with YET ANOTHER arguement brewing, the good vibes from Live 8 have been undone once and for all.

Re: Roger, Nick and Rick

Not too worried really, I think Waters is better off without the Pink Floyd moniker. His latest concerts seem to be selling rather well (according to Brain Damage site)... so I think he has paid his dues but you can still notice there is a huge part of him wanting to wrap things up with a nice official reunion with the boys.
In all hinges on Gilmour, which ain't a bad thing. I can remember not long ago its was 3 against 1.

Now to change the subject back to guitarists and add to what Terrapin said about Snowy White....
IMO, Snowy is one of the most talented guitarists out there, and his only folly, is he is too incredibly relaxed and humble..
He has been working with the Floyd and later Waters since the '77 Animals tour. He is a good journeyman and he can follow and interpret Gilmour licks the best of anybody.

Really? David and Rick are close these days? I seem to remember reading an interview with Rick within the last couple of years and in this interview, while describing his current relationship with the other members of Pink Floyd, Rick said something like "We're not very close. We were very close when we were younger because we were spending every waking moment together"

Quote from Dave from the April edition of Mojo talking about the Live8 reunion:

Mojo: Does this mean closure?

Dave: Closure feels pretty good to me. It also convinced me that taking a step backward into Pink Floyd ... has no appeal for me. It wouldn't make me a happier person than I am. ... The thought of making an album with the old line-up like that, I couldn't do it!

Mojo: So no new Pink Floyd tour?

Dave: No, no new Pink Floyd tours or albums. No.

Mojo: Are you and Roger talking now?

Dave: We're not not talking, as far as I know we're not not talking. But we're not talking either.

Re: Roger, Nick and Rick

alas if Dave's heart isnt in it, and it does seem it isnt, then it shouldnt happen. because if there is one person in that band that holds what you could call the Pink Floyd sound it would be Dave. they are all too old for this reunion stuff anyways. I give up. I guess Ill just enjoy the solo albums and look to the *eeewww* artic monkeys for a current rock band

At one point I looked down, and Roger Waters of Pink Floyd was sitting and chatting. Soon he stood up, and I asked him about his plans to tour a concert version of Floyd's classic "Dark Side of the Moon" album in Europe with Floyd drummer Nick Mason in his band.

He's still looking for someone to sing David Gilmour's parts. I suggested David Gilmour, but, alas, last summer's triumphant Live 8 Pink Floyd reunion didn't stick, and Waters said Gilmour has been dumping on him interviews again, saying Live 8 would've sounded just as good without Waters.

Suddenly Naomi Watts walked by, and Waters said, "Excuse me, I've got to talk to her."
