Roger, Nick and Rick

This is just something I have been thinking about.... This in no way implies that this will ever happen, just kind of a what it....

As we know, Dave seems to feel that the Floyd is OVER. What do you think would happen if Roger, Nick and Rick wanted to carry on, yet again, but this time without Dave? I know this is not likely, but you never know. Would Dave throw a fit, as Roger did in the 80's? I think so... Anyways, what do you all think?

Re: Roger, Nick and Rick

I doubt Rick would go on tour if Dave wasn't there and Roger was instead. . .Nick MIGHT since he is friends with Rog again, but I think both of them would rather have Gilmour around "just in case".

And I think Gilmour has legal control now?

I say sod Rick, anyone can play the boards . . . . . and I think Snowy can play about anything that Dave does, possibly because he played with him on tour as well, just refer to some of the great axe work on Rogers In the Flesh CD. Id love to see Roger, Nick, Snowy, and lets say any trained monkey to play the boards

Re: Roger, Nick and Rick

I think you are right about Rick. It seems that he and Dave are pretty close; Rick playing on Dave's album and touring with him. However, if the price is right...

Also, I thought Pink Floyd was a partnership.... Owned by Dave, Nick and Rick.. Am I wrong? I will look into it. If anybody already knows please do tell!

I just think this situation would be interesting. What would WE as fans make of it. Personally, I would rather there be no Floyd than a Floyd without Dave. Of course, I like AMLOR and TDB. I just cannot imagine the Floyd without Dave's voice and guitar. Of course I would support anything these men do however. What do you all think?

WOW... It seems to me that you do not appreciate all that Rick has done in the Floyd... That is sad to me. Also, Snowy CANNOT play like Dave. Dave has his own style that nobody else can do. Just because he copied Dave on Rog's solo show does not mean he can live up to Dave's originality.

As far as the trained monkey crack... Once again, I see you do not appreciate all that Rick has done for the Floyd... Sad indeed....

Snowy is a magnificent player and is not Gilmour but Dave these days is just being an dick really. Rick had done alot but if you look at late Floyd you'd see just how much Rick didnt do. After Dark Side of the Moon Rick's influence has diminished. What did Rick bring to the table on Wish You Were Here? On Animals? On the Wall? On the Final Cut? Hell, he didnt even do that much on the Gilmour led "pink floyd". One of the reasons that Snowy can play Daves solos so well is just because they are the same every time, its not like he goes out there like the Grateful Dead and improvises every solo, its the same thing. If you give Snowy what to play he can hit it out of the ballpark

and the trained monkey crack was meant at all keyboardists not just Rick

Re: Roger, Nick and Rick

If you cannot hear what Rick does on WYWH (which has Wright's signature EVERYWHERE), Animals, Division Bell, or even ITAOT for that matter, then you're definitely deaf. Or dumb. Or probably both.

The same goes with the bollocks about Snowy White and Gilmour.

Re: Roger, Nick and Rick

If it was the best I could get I would take Roger, Rick and Nick touring, its a majority of the members. Hell I'd take two of them, Dave and Rick or Roger and Nick if it meant they actually came to Australia.

Im not saying I cant hear the keyboard Im sayin that I cant consider that as being all that creative, innovative or exciting. On DSoTM he has great work on several tracks that screams of the aforementioned, i.e. -- Any Colour You Like, Great Gig In the Sky, and Us and Them. Those are tracks that jump out at you. Go ahead name me a track off WYWH that has that kind of effect to the keyboards or where they are that high in the mix. Really go ahead, I wont hold my breath waiting though. Same with Animals, really are you joking? He may be there but I dont count being burried behind what like six or seven other tracks as being present really. All he does in post DSoTM Floyd really is provide something for the guitars to jam to. And as for the Wall, surely you jest. I wont even waste the life of my keys calling Bravo Sierra on that one. And when you factor in attitude as well as all the other aspects that make great guitarists great, I think Snowy is a better guitarist. Which says something about Daves attitude becuase he is a way better techincal player

I really don't think David cares at this point in time. Take a look at his website, he's enjoying writing tunes with other musicians, and he seems to be really looking forward to a tour without all the crap. Fare play to him.

I think they're over. Get on with your lives.

On Wish you Were Here, have you not heard Shine On You Crazy Diamond? Welcome to the Machine? Havev a Cigar? You are saying that Rick is not heard? I can hear him pretty well. He sounds pretty original and great to me.

On Animals, the Floyd's style changed a lot from DSOTM, and WYWH. They were heavier than before, and more aggressive. Their style did not lend itself to keyboards up front in the mix. He did his job and played his role. That is what makes the Floyd so great, is that everybody played only what is needed, and does not try to show off. Nick's drum style is the same way, sparse, not fancy. He lets the music breathe.

As far as Snowy being better than Dave... I honestly cannot even address such a claim. It is total crap in my opinion... It is not worth getting into a debate about. I think you will find yourself outnumbered on this opinion. But- I respect your right to hold this opinion even though I think it is total BS. Also, you are judging them based on ATTITUDE?? Personality means nothing to me if a person can just flat out PLAY GUITAR. This is not Pop Idol or American Idol... We are talking Pink Floyd here.... Let the music do the talking, not personality....

As far as Rick on the Wall.... He was obviously having many personal conflicts with Roger at the time. That surely has to be factored into the equation. Plus, I think that the Wall turned out just fine, even though Rick may not have contributed all that much.

The Division Bell reaks of Rick... He is all over it. He is a brilliant player, and deserves respect. His style virtually makes Floyd as great as it is.
