Smile Roger Waters in Rock in Rio

Roger Waters will be in Rock in Rio, here in Lisbon on June 2!

The same day will be there Santana, Rui Veloso (Portuguese rock musician) and Jota Quest (Brazilian band).

I don't like Rock in Rio Organization because only a little percentage of the money goes to the charity organizations, but ok, i'll be there just for Roger. My house is about 10 km from Rock in Rio place.

Check this information here

Sorry, because this is a new information, isn't available in English, yet!

Re: Roger Waters in Rock in Rio

In english:

"Rock in Rio-Lisboa 2006 brings Roger Waters to Portugal for only the 2nd time

Roger Waters will headline the World Stage Friday June2nd, the same day as Carlos Santana, Rui Veloso and Jota Quest will perform.

The announcement of Roger Waters as the first headliner for the next Rock in Rio-Lisboa, marks the start of a series of releases about the full line-up to perform at the City of Rock on the 26th and 27th of May and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June 2006. Roger Waters will headline the World Stage Friday June2nd, the same day as Carlos Santana, Rui Veloso and Jota Quest will perform.

The popular Brazilian band Jota Quest, asked to join this day as soon as they heard about the line-up.

The ‘unveiling’ of the coming of Roger Waters, together with the confirmation of Rui Veloso, completes the program for the World Stage for June 2nd. Guitar fans will have a golden opportunity at Rock in Rio-Lisboa to watch their idols perform on what promises to be a remarkable night - the first day of the second weekend of the biggest music and entertainment event in the world.

This is only the second time that the founder of Pink Floyd comes to Lisbon, after he began the second part of his 2002 “In The Flesh” Tour with two concerts in Lisbon, setting the stage for a spectacular show.

Roger Waters has been active in 2005. He performed with Pink Floyd at Live 8 and also presented a three act opera about the French Revolution entitled “Ça Ira” (“It’ll Go”). The piece is inspired by an original libretto from the composer Étienne Roda-Gil and his wife Nadine and uniquely describes historical events from several different points of view, using a circus as a dramatic centre.

After the unexpected Pink Floyd reunion at Live 8, there has been speculation the last few months, about the return of this legendary band, but this has been nothing more than rumours thus far."

Sweet! Looking forward to watching whatever footage of this surfaces. It's a safe bet that he'll be playing some brand new material. Things are looking good for a North American tour in 2007...

Re: Roger Waters in Rock in Rio

And an European tour, who knows!
Remember that, at least for some people, Rock In Rio is considering the biggest rock festival of the world. It's the better way to show us that he is in form.

Re: Roger Waters Live 2006!!!

Wasn't he very critical of the other guys in Pink Floyd of performing a complete Dark Side of the Moon? I think he has a snide remark about it in the sleeve for the "In The Flesh" CD. . .

So either him performing Dark Side is untrue, or he is a hypocrite.

It'd be so much better if he did Animals instead. Or the Final Cut.

How about you re-read the actual quote before you go throwing that accusation around? His only grievance (it was a sly, passing remark too) was that it had been done "ad nauseum", since Gilmour overplayed it to death circa 1987-1989. Most of the tracks were performed in excess of two hundred times on that tour.

A ten year break from the last performance in '94 as well as the tantalizing Live 8 show seem to have whet appetites all around for a fresh take on the piece. Since Big Dave doesn't want anything to do with Pink Floyd anymore, then I guess it's time for ol' Rog to oversaturate the Dark Side market, all over again!

I didn't tell you anything until now, because i didn't hear everything, sorry . But, i heard Mizar, a good Ethnic Gothic band and i think that the most negative part of this band is the voice, don't you think? Well, i like very much the songs "Pocesna strelba", "1762" and "Armakedon". The "Pocesna strelba" song i loved when he sings "Break on through" part.
Thanks for you given me to know this band, because i like very much to hear new sounds.
About other bands, i'll tell you in a pm!

Re: Roger Waters in Rock in Rio

and little more off topic, i'm sorry folks,
singer's voice is the best part beside music itself, but that;s just mine opinion
end when you hear it live couple of times, you simply got to love it.

take your time for rest of music, no need to hurry (you didn't check Mars Volta good god??)
