Christian Children's Fund

Anybody hear about this charity?

From their fund raising adverts, their mission statements and general overall image - they appear to be one of the best. I asked a lot of people at a nursing forum and they to think it's some of the best ones around.

They sold me! I called up my supervisor a few days ago and told him I'd like to pick up an extra shift everyweek. The money I make goes straight to these chaps.

I mean, when you really think about it - $ 0.80 a day is nothing compared to the trash I sometimes blow my money on. If 4 extra hours a week means the difference is some kids life - for the better - I'd say it's time and money well spent.... wouldn't you?

PS: Also consider this to be a shameless plug for the charity

According to theit declaration last year - they spend about 80% on the kids, 11-13 % for fundraising and 9-7% for administrative costs.

This charity brings food, water, medical help, schools and teachers to thousands and millions of kids the world over.

If that 80% figure is true, it sounds like an honest deal & a worthy cause.

I'd sure as hell contribute to it before the "Red Cross" or the "United Way".

The Salvation Army is another good & honest charity, BTW.

While outside studies have lambasted such "charitable" organizations as The Baldwin Breast Cancer Fund and even the United Way (you know the top guy makes nearly a million dollars a year). CCF has continued to earn high ratings.

I'd agree that they are a good and honest charity, but I know for a fact that they own stacks ( and stacks) of properties which are bequeathed to them by Sally Ann members or by old biddies who have no one, apart from their cat ,to leave it to. It kinda sticks in my craw that they bang on about people being homeless when they have the means to house them. That aside, they are out there on the streets handing out soup to the needy and I wont knock them for that.

I didn't know that about the Salvos.. There ya go, learn something new every day. I remember when I was job hunting, there was one "charity" which would've paid me commission to collect for them.. what a load of crap!
