It's obviously an extra picture, because the motif of the LP's photos is the four elements--- Fire (cover), Wind (the pic adjacent to SOYCD pt 1), earth (the pic with the man holding the LP), and water (the pic adjacent to SOYCD pt 2). The fifth element that's sometimes associated with those four is ether, but I don't see that relating to the man swimming through the sand. The red thing flying away in the SOYCD pt 1 photo, by the way, is the red wrapper that came on the original LP. But I still don't know what the hell the swimmer is doing there!

Come to think of it, how come the cover for the LP is different from the CD cover? On the LP the fire man is standing upright with his shoulders back, and on the CD it almost looks like he's falling over. What's going on with my WYWH?!

My WYWH CD is like the original LP, with the addition of the guy in the sand.

I remember (from some source) Storm T. commenting on "The meaning of life" (Sand Man) photo and saying it was part of the original photos but was not included on the lp. I guess it was in the guitar book. The different cover images are from the european and american versions of the original lp if my memory serves me. He also says that the guy "just forgot to stop swimming" or something like that.

Why on earth do the UK version and the US version have slightly different cover photos? Is marketing so intelligent that it thinks Brits prefer their burning men to be leaning forward while Yanks prefer them to be standing back? I don't get marketing. Jerks.

Did you know that in the picture of the red scarf flying, there is a naked woman sitting on a rock behind it, its hard to see, but this is an interresting fact. Later.

GeraldTheMouse, As a matter of fact, yes. Brits DO prefer their burning men to be leaning forward. ![]() Call it cultural ambiguity. "It's a funny old world." - Maggie Thatcher

As a matter of fact, it depends on the issue. The re-issued cover has the guy leaning back, as if laughing at the other guy's joke. THERE'S the difference. Simpsons, hands, Japan, Mark
