Re: Difference Between The Wall and Is There Anybody Out There Personally, I prefer the studio version for the wall. But then again, everyone is different. If I were you, I'd try to listen to samples of both elsewhere on the internet, so you can decide for yourself which one is better. Actually, I think you might be able listen to 30 seconds per song for both albums on itunes, if you have that. Hope that helps.

Re: Difference Between The Wall and Is There Anybody Out There I prefer "is there anybody out there" CD; - it is a more complete representation,is less slick,& has more energy (IMO)

Re: Difference Between The Wall and Is There Anybody Out There This probably won't help but, for my part, I'd say get both :P I bought The Wall first. And, obviously, it is amazing. But not having a chance myself to ever see the Floyd live, I thought it would be cool to have Is There Anybody Out There? as well. While the studio version allows for all the instruments to be heard slightly clearer, the live version doesn't detract at all. Because The Wall was written to be performed live, there aren't any major changes to song structures. The solos are almost exactly the same, and most of the songs are slightly longer than the studio version. ISAOT also includes two extra songs and two interludes. A different version of Empty Spaces leads into a song with one of the coolest drum parts ever: What Shall We Do Now? The other extra song is just a filler at the end of disc one, basically an overture of all the best riffs on the disc, but it is still very cool. If you don't own either yet, get the studio version first just because it holds the "traditional" and "accepted" versions of all the songs. But definitely think about ISAOT as well, just for comparison. And while your at it, hop on Amazon and buy The Wall movie.

Re: Difference Between The Wall and Is There Anybody Out There I'd get the live version. Esp since you already have a copy of the studio album. ITAOT is much more dynamic. But, then, I always prefer live albums over studio.

Re: Difference Between The Wall and Is There Anybody Out There Yeah, I'd say the live one too. The songs are longer and there's so much more energy.

Re: Difference Between The Wall and Is There Anybody Out There Go for ITAOT. Comfortably Numb's version in itself justifies the purchase. The piano in some parts is also worth checking out and the drums are a bit more up-front and lively. It is more of a rocker than the studio album.

Re: Difference Between The Wall and Is There Anybody Out There If you have Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd, then you have the most essential pieces of the studio album already. In which case, get Is There Anybody Out There?
