| Re: Waters to Play DSoTM As for the rest of the band. I actually have a hard time listening to the studio version of Dogs after John Carin's wonderful rendition. As for Snowy, he knows Floyd better than probably the members due. And AFL did a great job on Money. I did have some problems swallowing Shine On... but it all can't be great. I believe Roger intentionally changed the arrangement of these songs so people knew it wasn't Pink FLoyd, but I think his show was much better than PULSE, which I found uninspired. As for Roger's vocals, I find his voice has definitely changed over the years, he can't hit the same notes he used to, but at the same time where he does sound good, he sounds really good. |

Are you telling me that hitting two different notes while muting the strings is "creating a whole clock sound effect"? And how can you mention the above when you're argumenting wether Waters' tonedeaf of not? I wouldn't call hitting a string while muting it down by the body a tone, because it clearly isn't. |

| Re: Waters to Play DSoTM I guess you just had to be there to believe it. I have never much favoured DG's Roger-less Floyd songs - okay, when he did his acoustic gigs in '02, I was blown away, but it was LIVE...and acoustic and DG. I knew to expect variations on any old PF themes but still performed by Floyd's king lead guitarist. I think Roger's ITF triple-guitar Money was absolutely stupendous, just different and accepting that it IS diffierent and not strictly Pink Floyd, the Live versions of both Money and Dogs are quite remarkable. Like I said, you had to be there and if you had been, it is difficult to see how you could disagree, but to each their own. Read or re-read the ITF and DG "meltdown" LIVE reviews here to see others' opinions. Floydian Fool, Byron Last edited by Bride of a Bull; 03-17-2006 at 01:34 PM. |

To each their own, and all that, but I really think Rog sounded better than he has for years on ITF. |

| Re: Waters to Play DSoTM Doyle's voice is a bit higher-register than Dave's, but he does a good job and I have no complaints. Also, I think it's cool when he adds a little extra flourish to Dave's guitar parts. Call it artistic license or whatever. All in all, I think Doyle was a brilliant choice by Roger. To my ear, Jon Carin nailed Dave's voice and inflections in Dogs. A brilliant track, and the one I most watch on the ITF DVD. |

| Re: Waters to Play DSoTM I guess I am just too used to David's voice and guitar on those songs.... I did like how Rog sang Time on ITF though. I like David on it better, but Rog did a hell of a job on it. Doyle... His solo on it annoyed me. I feel that that solo, note for note, is as important as the lyrics. Changing it is like David doing the song and making up new words. Just my opinion. Doyle is a brilliant player, but I like his own group, Smokestack, better.... I wanna hear David when I hear these songs.... |
