Red face Finally...

Finally, a place to talk about Floyd and solo-ists.
First off...Hi. I've been lurking for quite some time, but today, of all days, I HAD to come and visit (thank heaven's my boss is away so I can waste time at work! )
So, the reason I finally signed up is because a friend of mine who is a major tech junkie and also knows how much I love everything Pink Floyd sent me this interview with David Gilmour

Ok, I might need to take the rest of the day off. I'm too excited.
Thanks for having me.
Oh geez, almost forgot...here's the article:

Hello GilmoursGibson, welcome!

That interview seems interesting, I'll be sure to read it tonight. Looks like you're already pretty familiar with APFFN, but please take a moment anyway to peruse what may very well be the best part of all.

Have fun!

Re: Finally...

eeek

Ok, I guess that sounded like a commercial, huh? Didn't mean to. I just thought that thing was cool, but I can delete it if asked.
Thanks for the benefit of the doubt and the kind responses, though.

I'll just say that I remember the very first moment I fell in love with Floyd...

I was in high school and I really enjoyed the music of the 70's anyway (I'm 31, so, technically, a child of the 80's), and then I was in high school and had a guitar class. My teacher said that we needed to pick a song of our choosing for our final exam. Well, everyone picked Warrant or Slayer or Bon Jovi. I was thinking of one of those 70s songs (I'm also a Zep fan too).

Well, I was ready to choose The Song Remains the Same (I wasn't that good, but I thought I was! HA!), and the girl who I had a huge crush on mentioned how much she loved "Wish You Were Here". Of COURSE, I had to choose that song. I practiced the hell out of that song and actually got an A in the class. The girl of my dreams, however, went off into the sunset with someone else. So, of course, that song now takes on some extra meaning. Oddly, enough, though, I totally emersed myself in all Pink Floyd songs (and Waters and Gilmour too). And they became my favorites for life.

I still do think of that girl, from time to time. Toni Marie. Every so often, I do wish she was here. Ok, this was longer than it should have been.
Thanks to all who hung in there!

(oh, and, sadly, I haven't picked up a guitar in 5 years!)

Re: Finally...

Women eh!! My school days crush was a girl called Rebecca Roberts. Strangely enough she was in my dreams a few nights ago...but I've long since realised she was probably not that great after-all.

Welcome to the site matey.

Re: Finally...

I remember WYWH as being kind of the "cool" song to play at my high school. I love playing songs like Brain Damage, Wots....uh the deal and If, makes me feel like a better guitar player than I am BTW welcome to the site GilmoursGibson
