Re: "On An Island"

I really enjoyed OAI, I think it's the best Floyd-related album in the last 25 years or so.

Re: "On An Island"

I'm agreed with mad yannis, I don't think that "On An Island" is better than AMLOR or DB, but it's a great album too.

Re: "On An Island"

I prefer "On an Island" to AMLoR but I don't think that it is better than TDB. Rick's contributions make this album special (as they did in DSotM). If Rick is going to make a new album and gets some contribution from Gilmour (specially in guitars and vocals) we may have something extraordinary again. What they have written together (or with Waters) is always better than their individual efforts.

Re: "On An Island"

Indeed, I'm quietly hopeful about Rick's new album...but I won't be buying it until I hear some reviews.

I guess there will always be one or two special moments...I'm just hoping he's a wee bit more conventional this time around.

Re: "On An Island"

Why do i feel that the artwork of "OAI" is bit like the one on "...More"?

Re: "On An Island"

I don't think it's his island. Gilmour has a lot of money but buying the whole Formentera island is a little bit out of his budget. Plus, the Spanish government would have a thing or two to object to him purchasing part of its territory.

Any of our US brethren heard it yet?

David's website also now has a loop of an unidentified piece of music.

Yeah, I heard it for the first time on Television a couple months ago. "On An Island" is amazing! I've never heard such a beautiful song. I know it says it somewhere on the album, but I haven't got it yet, who are the other two men singing with dave? The one with the strange facial hair looks oddly familiar to me...(shudder). If you've seen the video...I think you can watch it on www.vh1classic.com if not, I don't know. Short of me sending everyone the tape, that's the only way to see it.
