Pitchfork Media List

Pitchfork media is mostly an outlet for people into "indie rock," but they made a list of the greatest 100 albums made in the 1970's. It's very, very untraditional:
http://pitchforkmedia.com/top/70s/index10.shtml

David Bowie is a #1 with Low! I love David Bowie, but I'd probably put even his best album much Lower than that (no pun intended). Brian Eno also makes the top 10, I thought that was cool because he's often under-appreciated.
The first Pink Floyd album to make the list is Meddle, at #67. Of course, I didn't like this. But pitchfork media is one of those "if it's popular, it means it's bad" kind of websites, so we should be happy the Pink Floyd even makes the list.
However, Pitchfork Media did give Animals a 10/10 rating, and they've given only a handful of albums that high a rating (so it doesn't make sense that Animals doesn't even make the list). A few other albums have have been rated 10: Ok Computer, Kid A, In An Aeroplane Over the Sea (Neutral Milk Hotel), The Soft Bulletin (flaming lips) (I started doubting Pitchforks integrity when I saw this rating...it's an ALRIGHT album, but 10/10, give me a break, the album has cut single versions of the two hit songs at the end of the album, for god's sake), Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (wilco), Odds and Sods (the who).

Re: Pitchfork Media List

Oops, I missed both the Wall and Wish You Were Here which were both rated in the 30's.

Re: Pitchfork Media List

I think Pitchfork gave the Final Cut reissue pretty high marks.

Re: Pitchfork Media List

Yes, it got a 9.0. Most great albums don't get above a 8.0.

The Arcade Fire's, Funeral got a 9.7, but I think it deserved the 10.0, for sure.

I think i'm starting to let Pitchfork influence me a little too much though.

This attitude sucks. Come on, if something is good it is good, it doesn't matter wether it is only known among a few "connosieurs" or it is number 1 in the charts all over the world.

This pose is what drives me away of some "indie" music (though I know that this is also a prejudice and, so, I'm making the same mistake they make).
