I don't consider them to be new myself. Tori Amos is still making good music but she has settled down a bit for my taste, the first three albums are incredibly emotional. But she's a happily married woman now with a beatiful child and I guess that the days of writing songs like "Precious Things" are over. Tool has influenced so many bands now... it's a pity that most of them suck. And yes, Mahavishnu may not be new but they are great. BTW, Portishead, amazing as they were, dissappeared some time ago so they aren't making new music. A pity, I've got their two records and the live DVD (and also the CD) and they were one of the best things to come out of the 90s. |

| Re: Good New Bands I don't think anyone's said this, bbut if you want a current band, try O.A.R., although they're starting to go emo.. moe. is good too. The only new band I really listen to is Yonder Mountain String Band, a bluegrass jam band.

Indeed! Shall we add Blur to the mix? Specially their self-titled CD and "13". Faith No More was also an incerdible band. "King for a Day Fool for a Lifetime" is my favourite album and a perfect example of how many different styles you can get in one single album by the same band (my mates in the band I used to play never understood this ) |

| Re: Good New Bands I listened to nothing but the Beatles for three years, then graduated to Floyd, and then the wide world of music, so I think I understand the original poster's tastes. I like... Franz Ferdinand Apples in Stereo Fountains of Wayne Superdrag John Davis Coldplay The Verve (Richard Ashcroft still tours... not much over here though) Keane (have to be in the mood for No rocking though) Kevin Max Beck Some older bands that you might want to check out and may not have heard of: Donovan (still tours, and he is a cheap ticket) Glass Harp Emmerson, Lake, and Palmer Left Banke (if you can find their cd) Jimi Hendrix (get a greatest hits and Are you Experienced) T. Rex Last edited by Wilton61 : 05-08-2006 at 12:56 PM. |
