Cool Good New Bands

For me i have been hooked on nothing but beatles and pink floyd for around 3 years and im only 11. All my friends like rap music but honestly that is just babbling words too fast to listen to with no meaning in the words but rape and murder. So ya im teased and i try new bands i cant like rap and stuff like Greenday and System of a Down are good but not great. Do any of you people know some good bands that have more than one song and that is good like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and Journey. Those are the types of bands i'd like to find out about.

I know rock is so called dead i think it is just asleep and im reminded that when i here oone or two good rock songs on the radio but not much more can i find. I heard the Guillemots have this really good song trains to brazil but i dont no any other good songs by them and i dont want to buy a cd and not like it. in other words I NEED HELP!!! plz

CAKE, Ween, Led Zeppelin, Foo Fighters, Tenacious D, Grateful Dead, Butthole Surfers, The Flaming Lips, Primus, Coheed and Cambria, Leftover Crack, Stone Temple Pilots, Mum's Cowboy, Modest Mouse, Incubus, Green Day, Alkaline Trio, Beck, The Cars, Nirvana, Aerosmith, Allmann Brothers, Jethro Tull, Gov't Mule, The Disco Biscuits, Steve Miller Band, Jimi Hendrix, Gomez, Syd Barrett, David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Xavier Rudd, String Cheese Incedent, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Widespread Panic, Nostalgia, Dave Mathews Band, Umphrey's McGee, Sublime, Bob Marley, Gorilaz....

Re: Good New Bands

I'll list some good albums because I think you're looking for bands that are consistently great.

The Arcade Fire - Funeral
Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
The Decemberists - Her Majesty The Decemberists
Radiohead - Kid A, OK Computer, Hail To The Thief (best 3 IMO)
Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
My Morning Jacket - Z

Try these. Let me know which of these (if any) you like and I can recommend you more similar artists.

Re: Good New Bands

Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand aren't too bad. Also, Tool is a nice progressive band (especially on Lateralus).

Re: Good New Bands

At that age, I was into Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, etc. etc. At 15 to 20 or so it TKC, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Metallica, Megadeth, some punk/post-punk like REM, They Might Be Giants, or even Elvis Costello. Dead Milkmen, Black FLag, Suicidal Tendencies. When I got even older, my tastes changed to other alternatives like Rage Against the MAchine, Ramstein, etc.

Now that I am in my third decade, I settle for Elton John, Neil Diamond, and Billy Joel.

It'll happen to you, too.

Re: Good New Bands

Hi. I've lost hope to find someone of your age who listens to good music.
There are lots of good bands, all of them created in the 70s-80s. To be honest,
I don´t find a good 90s or 2000 band yet.
Here are my suggestions:
- The eagles
- Dire straits
- bon jovi (the old albums)
- king crimson (too much psychedelic)
- alan parsons project
- allman brothers
- lynyrd skynyrd
- deep purple
- led zeppelin
- toto
- zz top

I hope it could be useful.
Enjoy music (it's the best you can do!!!!)
(sorry for my english, I'm from spain)

It has happened to me, except from Neil Diamond and Billy Joel. (What will you listen to when you're 40, Richard Cleyderman?? )

Man, you're missing a lot of good things...

Has to be the 2cd version though or you'll miss out on the brilliant Ocean Cloud

Check out Porcupine Tree too
