What early early Floyd should Waters play?

I liked his version of Set the Controls on his ITF tour, but what other song should he pull out of his past?

I liked how Clapton brought life to a rather boring song like "If" and he has been doing Set the Controls in neat ways since the Pros and Cons tour.
What song would you like to see him pull out of the hat and redo this year?

Give birth to a smile??? JK!

How about his own version of free four????

I'd like to see someone -- Rog or Dave -- do a good remake of AHM Suite.
Embryo would be another choice of mine for a redux.

Quite unlikely as they don't seem to be very satisfied with that album.

I'd love a new version of "Cymbaline".

"If" would be my first choice. How about Cirrus Minor or Grantchester Meadows?? That would be cool.

"IF" wins hands down ,Cymbaline : agree : Good choice Watered.
Of course I would love to hear Rog perform "Let There Be More Light" + " Bitter Love" + "Biding my time".
Dave's F.O.S. is good but their previous live ones are better than AHM suite;of course it would be a disastrous effort to perform it now;what with digital techno. doing what the humans used to do.

Re: What early early Floyd should Waters play?

all good choices.

Just once, just once more, I would love to see him scratch his throat with one last blistering Careful With That Axe Eugene... but it will never happen. F*cks up your vocals pretty good after that, I am sure!
Its got that nice simple bass that was served up again in Outside the Wall.

You mean "Goodbye Cruel World"?

The only one I can see him maybe reviving (like Dave did for "Wots... Uh the Deal") is "Julia Dream".

I'd say either Cymbaline or Let There Be More Light.

At the press conference for the Magny-Cours concert, Roger said he would perform one or a few oldies that he never has done before as a solo artist.

I know. It is unfortunate, because it is really a good song underneath all the hokey gimmickry that got tossed into the original version. I'd especially like to hear Dave do an updated and extended version of the Funky Dung guitar solo.

That would be a great choice.

Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk!!! --that was a joke.
Actually, I think "If" and "Cymbaline" are excellent choices, but there is always room for "Grantchester Meadows" and "Careful With That Axe, Eugene"--but I seriously doubt he's got enough wind left in his lungs for that one!!

Re: What early early Floyd should Waters play?

I know... but you must wish he could open the pipes up for Careful with that Axe just one more time.

Ok, how about this? He changes it slightly to have his vocals cruise overtop someone's guitar solo??? That way he could do a quasi-fetal scream, just not as loud. Naah, wouldn't work would it? We would feel robbed, because we have become locked in to how the original was. But then again, (am i flogging a dead horse or what?) on Relics, the scream is not a fetal scream. Only the live shows brought out the gutso!

It seems to me that we do some some interest in hearing that song live, at least one more time!

Like Set the Controls, the song has a nice Syd era sound. If it wasn't for that wacked out and totally loveable scream, it would probably be played more. I think the last time the Floyd did it was in '77 in Oakland.

YES!!!! They would have to take a Flaming Lips-esque rehearsal all dragged-out in animal garb for that one!! It would be so nice!
