Lightbulb Banning Policy Needs to be reviewed

Well, after being banned from this forum for a long week (without warning) due to my use of the F word Once (directed ad Fixx) I hope that some changes can be made.

This is what I want

1.- Before a user can be banned, at least one warning should be made

2.- At least 2 moderators should decide if the user should be banned. I am afraid some moderators can get carried away with their power.

That is all. I just hope that bannings will be reserved for spammers and people who ignore warnings.

At least "jesus" didn't ban me forever. If elected MODERATOR my first act will be to ban the whole lot of ya, and burn yourtown to cind.... etc etc etc.

By the way, I apologize for using the F word. To those out there whom I have offended, I sincerely apologize. To you Fixx, I apologize.

Re: Banning Policy Needs to be reviewed

Well you were soft banned, which is kind of like a time out, which I don't believe should require a warning.

If a mod was looking to ban you permanently, it would have to be discussed and you would be warned for sure...

If a mod is out to IP ban you, they have to take it up with Paulo and convince him it's the right thing to do, in which case your arguments will never stand. The only way to get around that is if somehow your IP resets itself randomly and allows you access to the site again.

If it's real intense, then everywhere you go you will find that APFFN is inaccessible. Malls, libraries, and even your dad's office.

Bans aren't often taken lightly, from what I know of the moderator ways (i've befreinded and be-enemied a few in my day) so quit bitching and behave.

Technically speaking - this thread itself is against policy.

Not to mention in the wrong forum

iplaycheapstrat, I accept your apology.

You had been warned previously by DeathTöngue for your attitude towards other members in the last 6 months.

After viewing your comments on the moderators in the 'how does one become a moderator' thread, it was apparent that you needed to take time out to think about things and coupled with your rather extreme response in the 'Floyd DVD' thread, I thought it best to let you go and cool off for a week.

Although I didn't consult the other mods prior to 'soft banning' you, of the ones that I've talked to since then, it's been agreed that it was the right thing to do.

And to allay your fears, banning ARE reserved for spammers and people that don't heed warnings.

Mark

Well I am glad to hear that. End of story, Clean Slate for me. End of this thread for me.

It's good to be back.

If it were up to me, no one would be banned.

Well,i sure you dont get it your way for if you had it your way we all would tie your legs in a bucket ,poured cement, and listen to DOGS,while it dries and then we'd have you drowned tied down by your own weight.:snigger: :wearing a wicked smile: .
As to soft bans without prior warning is better than being banned for ever.I thank all the mods/active members, especially Botley,Driven and Fixx for giving me a timeout and I really needed a break.See i was blanket banned;the premonitions and confirmed suspicions were all there for me to read and heed to the advice. But i failed to clean-up my PM folders hence couldnt read the warning.IMHO;a soft ban or a blanket ban is very useful indeed(though one suffers from initial shock...time heals)as it makes the "person-in-the-ban" look back upon all those mistakes, over the edge, useless, posting in triplicates, and other such acts which he/she enacted voluntary or involuntary.During the banned time (usually 7-15 days i think?)if the "soft-banned" comes to recognise the errors of the ways;and when the ban is over you can see things with more clarity. And if that person fails to understand the reason for the ban;and comes back quoting "Wasteland,no matter how good a person;will end up falling from grace"(ref:Marlon Brando's character in Apocalypso Now !).

Re: Banning Policy Needs to be reviewed

Indeed. I'll just scoot this over to the suggestion forum... the "consult with at least one other mod" would be in my list as well.

Temporary banning has its place, but sometimes I wish this board would allow the use of flood control.
