Re: Internet Romance

I fell in love with an internet girl
She seemed like the right thing for me
We chatted for hours
‘about heartaches and flowers
And her job as a missionaree

This went on for months
While I sucked on my beers
And typed my love over the net
I knew someday she’d be mine
So I arranged to meet up
And have a few glasses of wine

She’d be tall, and be blonde
Or be short and be dark
She’d be honest…..
On that you can bet!
My mind in a whirl
Oh my Internet girl
You mean all the world
Can I really find love on the net?

On the night that we met
It was cold, it was wet
As I sat in that swanky cafe
Imagine my sigh
As I looked in her eye
And found she was really called Bert.

This is how I feel about internet relationships too. Theroretically, they're fun, but in reality they're just too hard to keep up.

Good luck in yours, though, don't let my bad experiences cloud your chances.

Re: Internet Romance

I have no other experiences with the whole internet relationship thing, was never into them not did I ever intent to. I happened to meet a girl and I instantly fell in love with her, on the internet. Neither of us is looking for an internet relationship those are not realistic, we have a great friendship on the internet. A relationship could never work on the internet and it's limits, that's just silly.

Re: Internet Romance

Fucking thread, I hate it. took me all day to write the above post and still it's just not right. I didn't make the thread about my own experience but it does cover most of it by now. I never wanted my own situation to get out like this. Fucking mistake thread this is.

Re: Internet Romance

I personally don't think you can have a great relationship and/or successful relationship through the internet. There are just so many things that can happen, and things that won't happen.

Re: Internet Romance

I'm somewhat dubious about the notion of internet romance. For me words on a screen can't replace the heart-skip feel of a first kiss...but I guess there's lots of happy 'Norman' types out there who have found their perfect 'Edwina'...so who am I to pass judgement.

Re: Internet Romance

If you meet someone special over the internet, fine. But I don't believe you can fall in love without making actual real-world contact first.

Re: Internet Romance

Hmm. To share my story or not...meh, not. But let's just say...I found my girlfriend in a very strange manner over the internet. Lucky for me, it turned out that she lives only a few hours from where I do (only during the summer though). But most of our contact is over the phone (and we talk daily). I really don't see how words on the screen could have the impact a voice could (sorta like what Botley said).

Oh, by the way, we are in love.
