| Good distortion pedal I have a boss metal zone but im not happy with it. It sounds like bees pissed off. I want something fuller, louder and edgier. I like feedback, too. any recommendations?

| Re: Good distortion pedal I was in the exact same dilemma as you. I had a Boss DS-1, which was too thin for my needs. Sounds like you need a Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi. I got the (cheaper) Russian-built one, and I love it. Drawback: it kinda thins up your clean sound. One could adjust the EQ on the amp, like I did, but it didn't fix the problem entirely. It also depends on what kind of amp you've got. I've found it sounds a bit more edgy through a solid-state amp. |

| Re: Good distortion pedal Doin't buy any pedals with "Metal" in their name, because they will always suck. "Metal Zone", "Metal Master", "Death Metal", all crap. |

I can agree with that. I think im gonna go for the electro harmonix pedal, i've seen a lot of artists use it. im just not sure whether to get the american or russian, cause i heard one of them kills the original signal of your guitar. I think it may be the russian, like Shane said.

| Re: Good distortion pedal Sadly, it's true. Maybe I should shell out an extra $30 and get the American one someday. |

| Re: Good distortion pedal I personally don't like Danelectro. They're very, very fuzzy and sound like something a grunge band would use more than anyone of the Pink Floyd taste.

| Re: Good distortion pedal Dave uses the Danelectro Big Muff, according to Gilmourish.com... Personally, I've got a Marshall JH-1 Jackhammer, and I am very satisfied with it. I can get quite heavy disortion and nice, soft blues overdrive with it... ![]()

| Re: Good distortion pedal Hm, cool, thanks for the info. I guess Danelectros do work for Pink Floyd taste, as Dave uses it himself I'll have to make note to get the big muff. I just find it kind of odd that Dave would use a peddle I can get for 40 bucks at a flea market. ![]()

Yeah i can see that. I see a lot of garage bands using Big Fuzz, like Mudhoney and the White Stripes.

| Re: Good distortion pedal I also have a Marshall. It's the GV-2 Guv'nor. It's got the warmest, sweetest blues/rock tone. I mix it with some compression and I get an INCREDIBLE blues tone. I set my USA Strat to the neck pickup, set the gain to about half, and I fall in love. Still wanting a big muff pi!

| Re: Good distortion pedal Electro-Harmonix makes the Big Muff Pi, not Danelectro. I've got a Dano overdrive, it's pretty good for a bluesy/rock overdrive. One can get a decent White Stripes sound out of it. |
