Tell Us About Your Band

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pZoD...epyramidscheme

Here's a clip from my band...

I play guitar and sing.

We're a psychedelic/"grungey" rock band in a scene of hardcore, screamo, and *shudders* ska!

Still working on a fan base.

I'm sure some of you are in bands..let's hear about it.

Re: Tell Us About Your Band

Nice thread!

It sounds like you really have fun on stage!

I wish I could tell you about my band... but I haven't got one yet. I left my ex-band in September last year and I've been looking for a new one since then. At first I planned to form my own band which would do mainly covers (I was open to many options: classic rock covers, Radiohead and the like covers, pop covers...) but all the musicians I found wanted to play their own material and most of them were into "metal-emo-punk-hardcore-whatever" and I've grown tired of all of this.

Then I found an Irish singer/rhythm guitar who wanted to form a similar band to the one I had in mind and we started looking for more people. We even started working on some T-Rex, Clash and Hendrix covers... But we have had a really hard time trying to find out other musicians. Some of them tell you that they are interested and then they tell you that they are not available and the like. Finding reliable people where I live is almost impossible. So, the Irish guy is really fed up and so am I and we're about to call it a day.

Now I'm thinking that my next move will be trying to find a band which is already formed and is looking for a drummer. I'll just take a look at the songs they play and I'll see if I can fit into them and that's it, I won't mind if they are covers or not as long as it is not the "emo-metal-blah-blah" I talked about later.

This situation is really sad for a drummer. It's been nine long months since I last played

Actually that is our most straight-forward rock song.

I use a phaser and delay in most other songs...

We have a 10 minute long instrumental trip-jam...there's actually quite a bit of Floyd influence but there's a lot of other influence to so sometimes it gets lost.

Our sound is like a blend of Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Muse, Pink Floyd, Incubus, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience..

If you'd like to hear anymore songs just send me a message and I'll email them to you or something.

Re: Tell Us About Your Band

I sing and play drums for "The Nanometers", a covers band (so far - we've been jamming on some original stuff but haven't played any of it for an audience yet).

A nanometer measures nans.

Re: Tell Us About Your Band

I'd summerize my situation like this...

I'm in 1 band and have 3 side projects in the works..

Band:
Bravado.
We are a Rush tribute band. (Yes, I'm Alex). We play fairly regulary in the summer months, but have been on a bit of a hiatus for the last three months, but we still play together about once every two weeks just to stay tight. Our first booked gig for '06 in in June. We play all the "Hits" (Tom Sawyer, The Trees, etc), but dig deeper as well and play some lesser known cuts that are really good (Animate, Bravado, The Pass, YYZ, Leave That Thing Alone...)
Me: Guitars
Brad Alems: Drums
Sandy Morgan: Bass/Vocals
Rick Bettinger: keyboards.

Personal Project #1
David Lee: Out On the Ragged Edge
My first solo album of all original material. Still in post-production, tenative release date July (?????). Blues/Classic rock. Definate influences of Gilmour, Clapton, Lifeson, Knopfler...many others.

Vocals: Me, Shane Duncan, Seth Jacobs
Guitars: Me, Eric McKenna, Shane Duncan, Bill Eggleston
Bass: James Trevino, Me, Seth Jacobs.
Keyboards: Jake Burby, Shane Duncan.
Drums: Joe Wentzel, Brad Alems

Side Project #2
Shane Vincent: The World in My Pocket.
I was a hired gun on this one, Shane had me come in to do the principal guitar work, He's a piano player. About half classic rock covers (Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Beatles, Pink Floyd & The Rolling Stones) with half original material from Shane. Tentative release date, October.....

Side Project #3
Eric McKenna: Whispers
Eric's 5th solo outing. Very Celtic influenced acoustic folk. I added some tasty bits on five songs. 2nd guitar basicaly.
Release date, unknown.

Re: Tell Us About Your Band

I'm in a novelty band. We're called "Stabbity Death" (quotation marks are part of the name. Best not to ask why.) I'm the lyricist, lead vocalist, and do a bit of percussive work with unorthodox instruments (really whatever makes a cool sound). We're mostly in it for kicks, though, as none of us have any means for recording these songs. We jam and do eachother's parties, etc., but don't really want to do anything more. It's strictly fun.

Re: Tell Us About Your Band

My band is called Scarlet Eagle (yes, not terribly original) and I'm lead guitar and vocals, and main lyricist. We're an all-female group. We're at a bit of a dead end just now because we 'lost' our bassist recently...so now there's just the three of us; me, drummer and rhythm guitar. Obviously replacing our bassist is top priority, and I'd like to add a keyboard player to the line-up
