Re: Bobby Bland? B.B.B. is amazing.. He recorded some simply amazing tracks.. "Cry, Cry, Cry" is a classic, as is "I Pitty the Fool". My personal fave is "This time I'm Gone for Good".

Re: Bobby Bland? Yeah, my dad was a serious Blue Bland fan - to the point where if I heard a song, I am sure I would be able to sing along with it, dammit! BBB is strictly a Blues singer whereas Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye, at least, both found fame as R&B crooners. A subtle yet significant difference. And Ray Charles is more akin to the band leaders/singers like Fats Domino, Count Basie, Cab Calloway and latterly, Barry White, etc.

Re: Bobby Bland? You're welcome, Skylicker. Byron: I think a lot of people don't bring up Bobby Bland in musical conversations because he spanned a lot of musical styles. One could easily fit his singing style into the vocalist, blues, and soul genres. It's kinda confusing. But he's amazing all the same.

Re: Bobby Bland? Perhaps true, granted I only heard, seemingly endlessly, my dad's favourite Blues tracks from BBB.

Re: Bobby Bland? I saw him open up for either Buddy Guy or BB King. He had a cold and told the crowd that his vocals weren't going to be to loud. So of course some jackass in the back of the theater kept yellin' for him to turn it up. Needless to say BBB told him to eat s#!*.

Re: Bobby Bland? I remember hearing some BBB stuff when I was a kid, but they didn't play it much on the only radio station I could pick up. My fav's at that time were guys like Ben E. King, Jackie Wilson and Marv Johnson, who were more into Motown-type pop.
