| Re: On This Day At 0016 hours (12:16AM) a large wooden glider w/ 28 troops of the British 6th Airbourne Division, under the command of Major John Howard, landed in between two bridges,a canal bridge, and a road bridge on the Caen canal and the river Orne, respectively. Four other gliders landed almost all on top of the first one; all within two minutes. The soldiers stormed the two bridges, killing, capturing, or driving off the garrison of fifty riflemen within ten minutes.
