The techno song from the Mitsubishi commercial--"Days Go By", by Dirty Vegas. That's right. I looked it up, so I can go to my local bookstore and sample the CD, if they have one.

I like some techno. Probably part of the reason I like Broken China so much. Part techno, part concept album--even part classical, and a bit of a jazzy piano in a few places. It's got everything. What more can you ask for?

It does, at least to my ear, on certain songs, like "Runaway" and "Satellite". The difference, however, is in the rhythm, for me. Although it has the same basic beat, it seems not to rely on taped drum loops so much. Following Manu Katche's drumming is not the easiest thing to do. As soon as you think you've got a handle on the left drum section in "Runaway", he changes it and does something else. Though it seems to have some of the techno influence, it seems there's a lot more reliance on analogue instruments than on most techno. It's blended quite well.

Lessons learned from Identity, I suspect.

Yeah, I like some techno & trance myself : Daft Punk - Aerodynamic, Moby - Porcelain, ATB & Enigma - Enigmatic Encounter etc.
I actually hate the fact that techno is growing on me, but I simply can't help it!

But rock rules.

Youse guys has gotta get over dis techno crap!

Best remedy: Mojo Nixon / Skid Roper doing something like:
Elvis is everywhere
Burn down the Malls
Debbie Gibson is pregnant w/my 2 headed love child
I'm livin' with a 3-foot anti-Christ

If Mojo Nixon isn't embarassing enough, here's more. Kinky Friedman and The Texas Jewboys doing such timeless favorites as:

Asshole From El Paso
Ride 'Em Jewboy
They Ain't Makin' Jews Like Jesus Anymore

Publicly, I disavow any knowledge or liking of Mojo or Kinky, but in the privacy of my office, I crank it to 11 and sing along!

Hey, "Elvis Is Everywhere" rocks!! As far as techno goes, I used to listen to the Lords of Acid.

Anyway, the band that I hate to admit listening to is....*gulp*...Puddle Of Mudd. I kind of dig it.
