Re: Last Movie Thread

SawJourney to the Center of the Earth in 3D last Sunday, at the kids' insistence.

As usual with 3D films, a lot more effort went into making things fly out of the screen at you than making a watchable film. The 3D effects appeared about the same as a 1960's vintage Viewmaster, for those of us old enough to have had such things.

And while I dislike seeing films morphed from classic books, this could've been good, otherwise. Brendan Fraser played his usual character (he only has the one, as far as I can tell).

But unless you really, really like 3D dinosaurs and things (virtually) flying at your face from an enormous screen, don't bother.

I'm sorry you wasted hard cash on that movie Eddy.

Eddy, especially if you are (or have ever been a) Batman fan --- you'll LOVE this installation.

IMHO? It's almost - almost - as good as "Batman Begins". I would love to expand on that further but I'm afraid of compromise.

Suffice to say, Eduardo - if you've seen "Batman Begins" - and liked it... you will NOT be disappointed by the latest caper! It is simply MIND BLOWING! All the MORE FUN if you could manage/finagle a pair of tickets at the nearest IMAX theater.

cheers,

cheers,

Yup I'm a Batman fan, and I'm sure it will be a good movie. I had to chuckle when I saw the IMAX theater bit...god this is Aberdeen..IMAX? They are still operating movies by a hand crank machine up here ( well maybe not that bad but jeez its antiquated) There is a bit in the foyer where you can tie your sheep up whilst you watch the movie, similar to a bike rack. Tickets are purchased with money or live poultry. The shop doesn't sell hot dogs, ice cream or popcorn, it sells porridge ( 4 flavours) by those well known Scots Ben and Jockie!

Now, what kind of man would drag his sheep all the way to the movies, then make it wait outside, I ask you?

I personally thought it was superior to Batman Begins.

Well a few years back there was an uproar in Aberdeen, when they introduced that ban in all cinemas, but it had to be done. No one could concentrate on the movie for sheep bleating from every corner of the cinema, and there was also an overpowering stink of lamb chops throughout the building.

Wall-E the other night
Good, really liked it, my favourite Pixar is still Ratatouile, but this comes second.
Going to see Batman tonight, got my tix bought and all! I have a feeling its gonna be better than Batman Begins because of the Ledger factor.

Re: Last Movie Thread

The last movie I saw was the Dark Knight, which in my opinion, was better then Batman Begins. I think the movie was a little over hyped...but it's still a really good movie.

Re: Last Movie Thread

its over hyped because there's been alot of rubbish about on the cinema for a while and there's not a whole lot that we can't wait til video for. I've give it the two thumbs up and its one of the best in the franchise along with the first and second Batmans.

In Bruges

I really enjoyed it. Good mixture of dark humour and drama and Ralph Fiennes is as terrific as usual when he plays a villain.

Re: Last Movie Thread

I saw Dark Knight about a month ago and it was impressive, but it had some major flaws. The biggest being the introdution of Two Face. The movie was for the most part over and they threw that in making it longer than needed. Heath must have done a splendid job because this performance was much more memorable than a A Knight's Tale, but I still feel the Micheal Keaton/ Jack Nicholson movie was the best of the franchise.
