| Re: Syd Barrett dead, age 60. Very sad. Talk about a major influence! Syd is partly responsible for the births of quite a few musical genres. He obviously ushered in the British Psych movement. He was a major influence on : Bowie, Bolan (glam rock), The Damned, Sex Pistols (Punk Rock), The Cure, Bauhaus, and Siouxsie (Goth), Jimmy Page (Hard Rock), R.E.M., John Frusciante of RHCP, Soundgarden (Alt Rock). That's 6 different styles of music that were inspired by Syd's 3 (count'em 3) records. Now that's impact!!!!! Underrated, underappreciated yet sorely missed. Wouldn't we miss you at all? Horribly. Goodbye ol' buddy. Shine on forever.

| Re: Syd Barrett dead, age 60. Utterly bizarre coincidence... I dug out my Syd vinyl tonight for a listen. Stuck to The Madcap Laughs was a pristine, unopened, originally packaged 1981 vintage copy of Best of the Doobies Volume II I bought back then and never opened, original shrink wrap and all. Whaddya know. Too bad it wasn't something good. But bizarre. Maybe I'll put it up on eBay, it might be worth something. Thanks, Syd
