I've been trying to figure this one out. Does Mr. Waters have vocal cords that are not of human origin? He'll be singing perfectly normally one minute, and then out of nowhere: "EEEIIIAAAAHHHH!!!!"

I have not figured out how on earth he managed this scream. (Yes, I know he doesn't do it anymore. Let's restrict comments back to when Mr. Waters DID do this.) And, of course, if you listen to ITAOT, you get treated to even MORE inhuman noises!

HOW did he do this? Seriously!

The last time I heard that scream was somewhere on Radio Kaos. I'm not sure how he does it, but I can do it. It's kida like I scream inward as opposed to regualr screaming. It's much easier to get the higher pitched scream.

He has been doing this scream from the beginning. It all started way back when he was two.....(LOL)

I would say that "Pow R. Toc H." the live version is where I first heard it. The best is when he used it on the 1977 "In The Flesh" World tour to simulate a screaming pig.

I get this picture of a very young RW using this scream to scare off kids who picked on him on the playground...

I have a bootleg from 1969 in Amsterdam--"The Pink Jungle"--which is basically "Pow R. Toc H."...except he does even more screams and strange noises!

Eug'axe...your explanation MIGHT be it. On the pompeii version of "Careful With That Axe", it LOOKS as though it's not as much effort for him as it "should" be...

It takes some practice, sometimes it hurts the back of my throat.

Gee its been awhile since i listened to Animals, but whatta bout how Roger's vocals start and dissolve into Rick's keyboards. Actually just off the top of my head, i think its Sheep.

Though I much prefer "Raving and Drooling", I think that is a pretty cool effect!

Yeah...that is probably one of the most EFFECTIVELY-executed screams he's ever done, when it comes to context in a song. Chills up my spine, every time...

Grudgingly, I'd probably have to agree.
