Re: Disappointed by Rolling Stone

that doesn't really surprise me. pink floyd is often overlooked when the "greats" of the past are usually looked back on, and few of the people who say "yeah DSOTM is so amazing" don't really get it. There's also not really one Pink Floyd song that you could say defined them, was particularly genius on it's own, or changed the world in a very tangible way that we can see now.

Kurt Loder is actually quite right. He gave the record a generally positive review, and honestly, he can write about whatever the **** he wants to. I don't have to agree with it.

And Rolling Stone sucks.

Thanks Shane you said it Rolling Stone to me is like MTV commercial crap or mainstream whatever you want to call it.Years ago a friend of mine had a Rolling Stone Reveiw of Rock bands paperback book which trashed George Harrison. From that point on I couldn't be bothered with there opinion on anything.

I agree. Every music magazine is pretencious, but Rolling Stone is the worst of the lot.

Re: Disappointed by Rolling Stone

I picked up the copy of RS the very second I saw that cover. I see that my disappointment at the somewhat less than flattering review has been echoed and analyzed every which-way to sunday, as I suspected it would.

I guess I just dropped to say "hi!" and see that I was not alone in my opinion. Nice to see a lot of the same names and that NotNowJohn is just as opinionated as ever about The Wall

Chrissy must have a lot of clout getting her balded headed idol on list...
i made the above post tongue-in-cheek about PF not being included, but the year DSOTM came out (1973) was a key year in music...record companies were in trouble because of lack of album sales and USA was still in the mist of anti-war rallies,a couple years after Kent State killings...and then music saved the day with:

PF - DSOTM
Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy
Eagles - Desperato
Billy Joel - Piano Man
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
The Who - Quadraphenia
Yes - Yessongs
ZZ Top - Tres Hombres

plus solo albums by two of the ,Beatles,2 albums by Bruce Springstein etc.

I just feel something off DSOTM should have made a list of albums THAT CHANDED THE WORLD because of the message it gave on any number of songs on that album in indeed troubling times...give me break, the album was ONLY on the charts in UK for over 700 weeks...JMHO
