my dad actually turned me into PF. he was a maniac. he used to listen to QUEEN, PF and later PUNK music. i could say i inherited his passion for that kind of music. but i'm also crazy about hippy-music (doors, janis, jimi, ...)

Actually now that this thread has actually come up, I did discover that two of my uncles are also big PF fans and that DSotM is a big hit in the family... I guess some things are just genetic!

I grew up listening to PF but also Hendrix, The who, Clapton, CC Revival, etc. That's why I cannot stand MTV and all that shit.

My guitar teacher got me into pink floyd. When i was in 6th grade about 4 years ago and i hadn't played the guitar for too long, he gave me the music to the wall. The first song he had me do was Is There Anybody Out There. the next week i played it for him and he was like you're gonna need to get the album so you'll know whats going on when we do the rest of this. That was how it all began.

My older brother liked them, and had a few albums.

I was about 14 and he was playing the DSoT video a lot, and I started thinking "this is pretty cool".

Now I'm twice the fan that he is. Never looked back...still have a soft spot for DSoT.

They were mentioned favourably in a biography I read.

I don't think my parents know who Pink Floyd are. I had just thought they were some unfashionable old group. Changed my mind though.

I heard my older bro talk about them a time or two when I was quite small, and later I remembered him mentioning them, so I picked up a copy of DSotM. Been hooked ever since.

For me, it just sort of happened.
My dad always liked them, but when I was younger I couldn't stand them at all.
Then one day my Dad just happened to be reading something about DSOTM being one of the best selling albums ever. So I thought well they must be good, so I listened to it, and was blown away. I thought Time was incredidble. I've never looked back since.

Probably better if you hadn't. I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you actually have a monster following you around.
