Thumbs down without waters...all hope is lost....

ok i've been ragged on so much for thinking this (especially by my male couunter parts who are STILL mentioning things i've said about certain band members and won't take me seriously anymore....) but i kinda reallllllyyy hate the band after waters left. It doesn't have the same passion and drive as before, it doesn't really hit me as hard as the other stuff does. Anyone else agree...or dissagree i guess.....

Many Floyd fans agree with you.

I'm not one of them, but that's beside the point.

That's because you guys are guitar players, I suspect, and Dave would be great if he was just playing scales.

But Waters has it all over him when it comes to songwriting. OTOH, I'm not very fond of post-Wall Floyd, with or without Roger.

I don't think Waters was as good of a songwriter as most people think. It seems like people give him the credit for the the songs which others wrote the music for just because he wrote the lyrics. For example, DSOTM. Richard Wright wrote the music for a lot of the songs, while Rog wrote the lyrics. Dave also wrote most of the music for the song WYWH, as well as the hit songs on The Wall.

I'm not at all degrading Rog's songwriting skills, I just think Dave and Richard don't get enough credit for songwriting. Just look at TFC, where Dave was given a subsidary role and Richard wasn't even on the album.

Arguably they weren't as good (altho i think both albums are still pretty good tdb is actually really good) but i think if waters had stayed then we wud have just got waters solo career under the name floyd and although his solo stuff was good i definately wouldnt argue that its better than post waters floyd

I wasn't trying to convince anyone, I was just giving my opinion. Don't be so angry.
